Low Gear Drop Rates - Glitch or Intentional? Something's Not Right

I'm curious how much you have approximately spent (if you can recall) since the Earth DLC. Of the Earth DLC Gears, you have 22 of the spots unlocked out of 55 -- so roughly the same amount as myself (you have 33 left to unlock, I have 31 left). I spent 28,000,000 credits since July 17 and gave up at that point realizing that the classifcations of "Uncommon" and "Rare" for the Earth DLC Gears were either an out and out lie -- or Bioware needs to adjust the drop rate and they have not, and I won't spend another credit on anything other than Recruit packs (to level up Medigels/Cobra Missiles after matches) until Bioware address this issue.

Since you are obviously still spending heavily, I imagine you'll max out both your "Ultra-Rare" Typhoon (currently 1) and Particle Rifle (currently 0) to X before you level up your so-called "Uncommon" and "Rare" Earth DLC Gears to V.

Having same issue. Everytime I use SP or PSP, I get level IV ammo. 90% of the time. Yet I still don't have all uncommon gear yet.

So are vet packs a safer choice? I don't wanna waste credits.

This is subjective, I don't use consumables but I like to promote to try new builds.

My problem is a little different. I have maxed out ALL silver and gold stuff. I have many UR weapons on Level 5 now. I have ALL the old silver and gold gear. But I have indeed a hard time getting the NEW silver or gold gear.
I only have the COmbatives Upgrade, Martial Biotic Amo, Juggernaut Shield, Guerilla Upgrade and Barrage Upgrade. The highest of them at Level 3, some still at 2 or 1. I am missing the Shock Trooper Upgrade AND the Omni-Capacitors.
In addition I am missing ALL of the 4 new silver gear:
- Thermal clip Storage
- Adaptive War Amp
- Engineering Kit
- Densified Ammo

If it weren't for the manifest, I wouldn't even know they exist.

So can someone please explain me, why I have a lot of the new Gold Gear before receiving a SINGLE silver gear item? Even the weirdest RNG results can hardly lead to this.

Especially considered that I have bought over 40 PSPs, maybe 20 Recruit and over 10 Veteran packs in the last two weeks alone (not counting the saved 3 million credits I had spent after the Earth DLC came out).

And still NOT A SINGLE silver gear? I got three Ultra-Rare weapons in the meantime BTW. So apparently silver gear is more rare than a black ultra-rare weapon?!?!

Something clearly is wrong and I am not talking about an unlucky streak here!

Bioware can you please answer us what you did with this stuff, and how you're going to amend with people?
I think we need some sort of commendation pack with some granted stuff for the credits we spent while we were deceived to believe to the drop rates.
a pack for everyone with 2 uncommon gear cards, 2 rare gear cards and 1 UR card would be good

Can someone with more knowledge look at my manifest and compare my UR drop to the supposed insanely rare Gears?

I know Gears are rare to unlock, but I still get them more than UR. A rough estimate by me is about 1 gear (mostly rare, sometimes uncommon) for about every 5 PSP's I buy. I get an UR maybe 1/15 PSP's?

I dont know, my luck with UR's flucuates a lot. I'll have days where I get 1-3 UR's in only 12 PSP's and then go weeks without one.

EDIT: Just checked, I have 41/110 UR's and 75/145 for Gear. Im still closer to maxing my Gear than UR's. Is that normal?

As much junk as there is to "randomly" collect (that you actually get to keep), consumable rare items are a crime in and of themselves.

But then I went back and gave my long-neglected Firefly a run through the arena tonight in Borderlands. I think I'd actually forgotten what it was like to play a game where the guns *actually work*. And I don't feel like I'm beta-testing something that overall isn't quite finished yet.

How is it Gearbox can get several million procedurally-generated weapons/gear right, and Bioware still can't manage a fraction of that? And doesn't even manage to GIVE you most of the comparatively few things it's got, that are still broken?

Maybe later I'll see if they fixed it. But I'm not putting much more effort into this, and I'm sure as hell not giving them *money* to try and get things faster.

Here is how you're doing when it comes to the NEW Earth DLC Gears we are talking about in this thread.

You are 8 for 20 in so-called "Uncommon" Earth DLC Gears:
Thermal Clip Storage (0/5)
Adaptive War Amp (4/5)
Engineering Kit (4/5)
Densified Ammo (0/5)

You are doing about twice as well with the Uncommon Earth DLC gears as other people.

Your so-called "Rare" Earth DLC Gears? Slightly worse percentage at 5 for 35.

Juggernaut Shield (0/5)
Shock Trooper Upgrade (0/5)

You are 13 for 55 in Earth DLC Gear.

Since I have nominated myself as fortune teller of this thread, when I look into my crystal ball -- I find that even though you only have your Typhoon and Particle Rifle at Level I, I believe you will max these two "Ultra-Rare" weapons to X before you level up all of your so-called "Rare" and "Uncommon" Earth DLC Gear.

That should be impossible, as you have nearly maxed out all of the other Earth DLC "Rare" items.

As everyone can see Giro X- is 49 for 50 when it comes to the "Rare" non-GEAR Earth DLC items. Anyone with a brain would assume that the other so-called "Rare" items would drop at the same rate, right? Wrong. 5 for 35, or 13 for 55 if you include the Uncommons -- which should have dropped BEFORE the Rare items as they are only Uncommon -- right?

Bioware? What the...

I unlocked more ultra rares since the launch of the Earth DLC than I did any of the N7 classes.

It's really weird and definitely frustrating.

Nice! :) Not to rain on your parade though. It's Mental Focuser, which is not part of the Earth DLC Gear.

The rest of the "Uncommon" non-Earth DLC Gears should quickly drop in Uncommon packs. That is, assuming Bioware didn't break the store when they replaced Character Cards with Level IV consumables and put Level III consumables in Veteran packs, you should be able to max out your non-Earth DLC "Uncommon" gears (and weapons) pretty quickly.

And don't bother with "We're looking into it. Thank you for your concern." It's been almost 3 weeks since the release of the Earth DLC. Plenty of time to "look into it". Make adjustments so that the Earth DLC Gears drop as advertised (Uncommon/Rare), or reclassify the Earth DLC Gears to Ultra-Rare status.

Not that Ultra-Rare is true either -- still, it's not as blatantly misleading as calling the Earth DLC Gears "Uncommon" or "Rare".

I was rather directing to the point that i spent 60k to get 3 level III consumables (its a power amplifier III consumable in the middle) and a level IV ammo.

Which is rather sad :)

I think they are starting to put more time trying to go around the problem rather then fixing it.

Things unlocks since Earth DLC:
All 20 Rare weapons.
All 25 Rare weapon mods
All 24 Rare Character cards
10 Ultra Rare Weapons cards

... 3 rare gears cards.

I've been playing a bunch too.
If my bad math is correct, at that rate , I can actually look forward to unlocking all my rare gear to level 5 sometime next...

What's that you say Bioware store? You mean after only six months of daily playing I too can enjoy a level 5 shock trooper upgrade? That is a mighty tempting carrot you have hanging at the end of your stick.

I bought 16 veteran packs, 1 PSP and 1 SP tonight. 1 rare gear drop, no uncommon gear drops at all, just level 3 ammo's. I agree with OP, somethings a bit out of whack. You can see the story in my manifest really. Haven't been buying many PSP or SP's last week or so, just vets.

Gear is more useful than UR weapon drops so it's understandable harder to get.

That said, GIVE ME MORE BARRAGE UPGRADES DAMMIT!

It's not just the Gear, the new classes also have roughly the same drop rate. I've been trying to get Fury and Slayer maxed out for over a week. Dozens of SPs and PSPs later, I've got a bunch of Level IV ammo, My M-77 Paladin IX, and a few token upgrades to my Juggernaut Pack, which I've wanted for a while so that's kinda nice.

But seriously, I've gotten more ammo in the last few weeks than I have pointless character cards before they were taken out of the cycle. I can only imagine how people trying to unlock stuff they don't have yet (like my friend CeilingKid trying to get his first Geth Engineer for the past few months) are dealing with this kinda nonsense.

My Ultra Rares varies from each weapon. I don't just get one particular Ultra Rare, or have I received many Earth Gear Bonuses either. I am not sure how this game's drop rate system works,but I do not like opening a PSP to find nothing worth the 99,000 credits I spent. 

It's either you get an Ultra-Rare or you don't . It is very frustrating to the point to just quit all together. You can look at my Manifest and see for yourself. As for level IV ammo, it needs to be in Jumbo Equipment packs, not in PSP. I can only imagine people reactions when opening a PSP after the 99,000 credits spent,  to find only level IV ammo.  Enough is enough. <_<
