1st off why does reapers vestments cost the most (Implying its the best robe in the game) when Tevinter mages are better?
Its the best looking robe in the game yes , and would be the best robe in the game if "Taunt" didn't exist at all , but Tevinter Mage Robes are as far as I've seen the undisputed best robe in the game
+1 mana regen +5 spellpower on that , whereas the reapers vestments are purely defensive stats
Next off , where do you get "Robes of the gifted"?

I agree. Reaper's Vestments are vastly overrated. They are intended to improve a mage's defense, but if a mage wants to do that, he can simply choose the Arcane Warrior specialization, learn Combat Magic (and nothing more) and wear some decent armor instead of a robe. The Tevinter mage robe, on the other hand, does exactly what a mage needs - increases his spellpower and mana regeneration.
On the other hand, Reaper's Vestments can be good for a pure blood mage (+6 CON is not a joke). But even blood mages can think of something better.
