If you knew it was bait set for you, then why are taking the bait by posting in it? If LiaraShields was setting it out, than you should have been the more mature person and ignored it. (Not saying you are LiaraShields)

At any rate, if it was a troll topic, its pretty unnoticeable because it makes sense that a too good class like the GI makes any weapon good great. Put the pirhana on a different class aside from a destoryer and see how difficult it is to hit the broadside of a barn from farther than 8 meters.

I'm trying to be reasonable and not insult him this time he feels that the weapon is overpowered but I feel that if you used accuracy or damage increase characters and then jack everything on consumable and high end gear then of course that weapon may become stronger or more powerful but if you don't play it on a geth or the destroyer it will probably be no where near as accurate or as powerful as he suggests or feels.

If  there is a problem in people using a weapon as it isn't intended, and doing well enough that most of the community begins doing the same thing, its just as bad as if the weapon has naturally been that powerful.

Something should be done to prevent these issues, but when they arise, they should be addressed, as should be as should any of the other issues.

Don't forget to make sure the other three players are mediocre and take a screenshot of your massive e-peen score, from which they must look up to. After posting it, insist your topping the scoreboard has absolutely nothing to do with skill and it's all because your character/weapon is op.

The best example of this was the GI + piranha thread where the guy using the build scored 374k. Now i am not saying that the original creator of the video did all that u mentioned above. But the one posting the video here on the forums surely wanted to show how OP the build was.

That guy had 3 mediocre players on the team clearly. He alone was doing the killing which is evident from the fact that the game took 34 mins to complete. Add to it the credit payout which was at 69k which clearly shows that he carried them thru as they were not able to complete objectives that efficiently with him.

Also c'mon there is no way that he would score 374k (second guy 61k the third at 45k & the last one at 19k) without the other players being bad at the game. I have used the GI + piranha build with even better consumables while playing with friends who are good at the game & have never been able to outscore them like that.

I watched the video. Basically 1 guy quit then the same guy rejoined so he got last place. Also there was a hack circle where there was only 1 guy hacking until he gave up and no one hacked until the last few seconds. Funny video

Well wasn't the pirahana shotgun ment to do decent damage to targets at close range I mean it really is suppose to be a close quarter shotgun though it can be taken into decent debate area with the geth and the destroy with accuarcy bonuses potentially making it middle range or longer.

Why would anyone do this?
Would Bioware ever nerf a weapon solely because it was used with great success in one or more videos?

I have no idea why anyone would do this, and even if someone did, this person's dishonest method would be exposed. And no, Bioware wouldn't. Threads such as this just make the community dumber. Please stop.

Bioware takes the community into consideration but the community could be flawed or wrong or the thread host could misinterpret a weapon by having high end gear and consumables plus using accuracy and damage enhancing characters

And maybe if they do listen to the community accidentlly nerf a weapon that may never be needed but this is under speculation and discussion

We obviously have two different opinons or ideas on it so lets agree to disagree.

No, they would not. People come on here and provide evidence of an OP weapon, and the people who don't want it nerfed make it seem like the person is advocating proof instead of evidence. Then it turns into a ****storm.

But how did you provide proof when you used a character with accuracy and damage enhancement while jacked up on consumables and high end gear supposed proof is not completely valid and can be misinterpreted for being overpowered.

There is a way to fix the long range pirhana Trick, however.

Accuracy bonuses, when being calculated, are added together, then that percentage is taken out of the weapons spread.

Thus, a 50% accuracy bonus and a 25% accuracy bonus used together results in a 75 % reduction in spread. A gun that is 4 X as accurate as it should be. That second, 25% bonuses net effect was twice it wast designed to be because accuracy bonuses are additive.

You can see this in action by combining a turian soldier with a + 50% accuracy marksman with a smart choke. You get perfect accuracy. Any gun. (Note,  any more then a 50% bonus from marksman will result in a small amount of innaccuracy being gotten back.)

So what would happen if we made accuracy bonuses applie themselves one at a time, instead of all at once, we wouldnt get this issue.

Smartchoke + 25% accuracy would result in weapon that is 62.5% more accurate, not 75% more accurate, because 12.5 % is 25% of the remaining 50%.

A spread that is (1.00-(1.00X.5)-((1.00X.5)X.25)) of the original spread is still far less accurate then the then (1.00- (.50+.25)) spread we were getting. Resulting in accuracy classes no longer breaking the game with every shotgun that is by design suppose to be brutally inaccurate, and becomes inbalanced when the accuracy issues are rectified too effectively.

So there is a fix to the pirhana dellema.

Its just a coding fix, not a hotfix fix.

So acting like we cannot somehow never

Ok so you're not the one playing but the person in the video is using a damage and accuracy enhanced character with all out consumables and high gear and you don't ask yourself why the weapon might be strong in that case like I've mentioned before try a character that isn't a destroyer isn't a geth no one with damage boosts or accuracy enhancements

And not going all out on gear and level 3 or 4 consumables and the weapon will be no where near as powerful as you think it is

Are you really surprised by that?. Despite any comments I make, I'm generally on the outside looking in. And all these cries for nerfs/balance come across as extremely selfish and self serving, and do not appear to be for making the game "better" or taking into account others who just simply enjoy the game.

It quite litteraly appears as "ZOMG KILL DEATH RATIO!, SCORE!, SOMEONE OUTSCORED ME!, NERF THE GUN PEOPLE LIKE, MAKE THEM PLAY MY WAY BIOWARE'S OR I WILL CRY!" dressed up in fancy underhanded speak.

I mean really, of course with all the best gear and buff's you can make any gun into a killer. But how many people know how to min/max like that, let alone have an unlimited supply of Ammo 4's and such.

Balance changes are often delayed because they want to do more play tests. Other nerfs have been explained by Bioware to be the result of statistical data. This alone should tell you that they won't accidentally nerf a weapon. They don't simply watch a video, then go "hey, this is too powerful". They too can make mistakes of course, or they might simply have a different idea of how a weapon should perform than you and me.

There is a distinct pattern to be found in the balance changes if one is willing to look for it. The goal is, like Fagnan has stated, to make as many options as possible viable. And please remember how few nerfs there have been. Each one of them justified, IMO. Yes, I too think they probably went too far with the Typhoon. They will probably realize that and buff it some. But I would never dream of generalizing and accusing Bioware of trying to scare away players or of doing this as a part of a strategy to make more money. Such ideas are laughable. The fact that one or two nerfs can bring people to such conclusions scare me, actually. No wonder wars are started if people construct such realities for themselves.

Not that you have made such assumptions. I derailed a bit there. But I sincerely doubt anyone would take such extreme measures to get a weapon nerfed, I cannot simply imagine anyone doing it, and even if such a person existed, he would by no means be representative of the group many of you so ignorantly call "nerfers".

Bioware takes the community into consideration and the community is not infalible that is why potential mistakes or mistaken nerfs may happen also one of the things I'm trying to avoid by explaining why some weapon may seem overpowered

Well then mike I don't think you've played with too many other shotguns then

And before that degenerates any further, to rephrase, I said threads like that they quite litteraly appear to be people whining about common baby whine's like Kill Death Ratio's, Scores, Someone out scoring them, nerf the gun people like, make them play my way or I will cry" dressed up as fancy underhanded speak.

Like I've   said without accuracy enhancements you can barely hit the broad sign of a barn with the pirahana with a character like the geth or the destroyer it is no longer a issue then their damage bonuses plus their accuracy enhancement plus level 5 shotgun gear plus level 4 penetration or warp or or even level 3 stability I mean these things are what make the shotgun strong or give you the impression of it being overpowered.
