Big fanbase =/= universally beloved.

Unless you want to tell me Twilight is good.

I thought it was Tali that had the biggest fanbase in Mass Effect.

I'd say it's Garrus

Garrus is probably the most used squadmate and Liara the most popular LI.

Fanbases are difficult to gauge because the internet can blow things way out of proportion.

But the most popular character is, in all likelihood, Garrus. With Tali and Liara somewhere behind him.

Your word is not law. In polls sometimes Liara comes on top and sometimes is Tali. But Tali, Liara and Garrus are the top three most popular.

Keep in mind.

Femshep is very popular on the internet.

A very small percentage of people actually play as her.

Threads full of spam and internet polls (that you can cheat on) are not good indicators of popularity.

That's because Liara is not limited to just one genders like Garrus and Tali.

You keep saying the original intent of the thread, yet people are bashing Liara. Then change the title thread.

i'll repeat from my past comments I left from others.

I orignally wanted this thread to be seen by Bioware to show that there's many Liara  & non-liara fans, who want more content giving to other characters now. Liara fans should be happy. I know if Wrex was given as much content as Liara, I assume You and others would express frustrations....also. The situation would be vice/versa

But, this thread wasn't to show Show hatred to Liara. If I wanted to do that be sure this thread would have been locked.

Actually, I wouldn´t´since Wrex is one of my favorite characters^_^.

Yes, I´m happy with the amount of content Liara was given, but the quality was somewhat questionable. I especially found it rather annoying how there are almost no difference between those who have romanced her and those that haven´t.

The other characters deserve more or at least better content, but that doesn´t mean they should reduce Liara´s (which is sadly the wipe I tend to get from these type of threads).
And no matter what your intentions originally were there is still alot of hatred in this thread. Just look at how "delighted" some were with that gif image a few pages back.

The screenshot and title along with "What happen to other characters like.......everyone else in ME2 that was left out?" and it's quite evident.

edit: Sorry Seifer...

If Liara's first words in ME1 were "I'm dying," I'd fully expect for her to die at some point during the trilogy. And I'd be totally cool with that.

And that is why I can't fathom why Thanemancers are complaining about Thane's death.

She's a good character.

Far from my favourite in the series but I think the hate is unjustified. She understandably has a larger role since she is the only squad member from the original two games who cannot be killed.

This doesn't take away from the fact that I would really like to see some extra content for the forgotten characters of ME2 though.

OK, but don't her actual first words ("Help! I'm useless, and I can't get out!") leave you expecting something other than her being the savior of the galaxy at every possible turn?

So you're cool when her first words end up not matching her character, but somebody else's first words has to match theirs? Or you would have been totally fine if she had ended up getting herself killed?

Well I think you are sort of the exception, Han. You don't seem the type that would give a **** if Liara had some lame death scene (Shepard had better things to do?), or if your relationship with her wasn't acknowleged in any way.

Let's not derail seiffer's thread. There are several threads detailing WHY we think that Thane was ripped off. Feel free to read any one of them for those reasons--and please actually READ them, don't just toss an uninformed opinion in and run. It's rude.

Actually I think this thread does need to be derailed and then locked. Some people love Liara, some people hate that Liara is forced on them, may that be plot relevance or friendship. Its never going to change, and frankly I'm tired of getting beat over the head with these type threads. Also, I'm surprised we haven't seen lockdown already.

There wasn't anything out of character about her first appearance on Therum.

She's been locked in there for days, and it is part of the canon that biotics need to maintain their energy levels in order to main control over their biotics. An exhausted, malnourished and dehydrated biotic isn't going to be able to use his or her powers.

The first mention of Thane in this thread was by someone crying that Liara is in this DLC and Thane is dead.

And my opinion is not 'uninformed.' Thanemancers who wanted an out where Thane would be cured of his terminal illness, would have totally ruined his character and rendered his ME2 plotline pointless.

It is ironic that the people who claim to be the character's biggest fans would compltely ruin him if Mass Effect were written by fan committees.

For the record, Thane is actually one of my favorite characters in the series. I just have little patience for people who cry over Thane being dead as if Bioware cheated them, when one of the first things he tells Shepard in ME2 is "I'm dying."

That doesn't mean that we need to bring this entire discussion in here. We disagree. We have reasons. It's not related to Liara. Leave off.

Personally, I'm disappointed that Thane won't get any screentime in this DLC, and I'm rather annoyed that Liara (or any of the squadmates, really) can. But I'm glad for people who like Liara got what they want. Do I feel gypped? Yeah. Is it the fault of anyone posting here? No.

That's not very likely, they do not want restrict DLC content to only a part of playerbase. Unless they would stick to the strangely similar stand-in, which is too criticized... Probably hopeless.

If the character is dead in your playthrough, then don't buy the DLC, or play it on a save file that has that character alive. If you dislike said character, chances are you won't buy the DLC unless you were economically retarded.

Just write the DLC assuming X character is alive. There is no downside that can't be written out.

It all depends on the character's death scene. I thought Thane's was extremely well done and not unexpected.
Likewise for Anderson. While I wasn't expecting Mordin's death, I also thought his scene was very well done. I wouldn't call any of those lame.

Probably because BioWare indicated there was hope that he could be saved. If you romance him, he even seems like he feels a greater motivation to live and fight his disease.

His death is also treated like it is less significant to a romanced Shepard than a random child whose shuttle she saw explode.
