If Liara's first words in ME1 were "I'm dying," I'd fully expect for her to die at some point during the trilogy. And I'd be totally cool with that.
And that is why I can't fathom why Thanemancers are complaining about Thane's death.
His death is also treated like it is less significant to a romanced Shepard than a random child whose shuttle she saw explode.
I do think Thancemancers have a legitimate gripe there, just not with the death itself.
