3) In my game, Garrus did far more for Shepard than Liara. When not forcing her presence on Shepard, Liara was thankfully generally avoidable (last mission in ME1 before Ilos, brief meeting on Ilium without doing LotSB, mostly secluded in her room on the Normandy in ME3 though the forced missions and room visits may have cancelled that out). Garrus provided love, support, companionship, peace, humor, loyalty and respect (i.e. was willing to let the dead lie, didn't hang on to her belongings, etc.) to my Shepard. Oh, the joy of being able to make some choices.
So you're saying Liara was forced on people when she's entirely optional except when she's required?
So Garrus should have been on Mars researching prothean tech? Or Vega should have been the one making time capsules? How come its always Tali when Im doing something Geth related? Liara can provide all the things you mentioned that Garrus can to someones shepard. So could Tali. Its all preference.
The sad truth is Liara isn't given any more favoritism than any other squadmate - save for her avoiding death. One can make the same argument about the VS. And frankly, given how your relationships with other squadmates actually effects how certain events will play out - something Liara has no variables with - actually says otherwise to her importance. She's there to provide context in regards to ancient history, and apparently appear in screenshots for DLC. Everything else is optional.. and not nearly as oversaturated as some would think.
1. Yes, I am. Four missions and two room visits that should be entirely optional. I wouldn't say anything for one mission, two tops. But those and not being able to skip through all of her dialogue makes her very forced.
2. Did I say she couldn't? I'm talking specifically about my Shepard since the poster above told all people who hate Liara that 'Liara is ur bestest frend no matter wat!111!!!1@!1!!". And did I say any of the other squaddies should do whatever Liara has done? I'd be happier with a NPC prothean researcher (and if Bioware had wanted to and I suppose had the resources for it, they could have provided one) on Mars and.. I can't recall, is the time capsule scene optional? Can you tell Liara to go away before she enters the room or do you have to go through some scenes with her first?
