Would you, right now, buy ME2 and ME3 remade to be more like ME1?

No, but I would buy ME1 again if it was remade like ME3 or even ME2.

No. I am with the very small minority who thinks that ME1 is the worst the trilogy... in a good sense.

I agree with you Massakka. In terms of everything it falls short. It's still a great game, but doesn't match up.

Not a small minority. If you ask me, ME1 gameplay is a horribly aged mess. As good as it was at the time, it is unplayable for me now.

In what way? Gameplay wise or story wise?

Not a small minority.  ME1 gameplay is badly aged mess.

You know what drags down ME1's stroy? The fact that you need to play it to see it.

That is why it's low on my list as well, it makes itself a chore and a hassle to play just to see the story poritons of it.

Still, the games a solid 93 in my book, ME3 is 94, and ME2 is 96.

No way. ME1 had pretty average game play propped up by a good story. I enjoyed it the first time I played it but the other 2 games were both quite a bit better in spite of the ending. I am looking forward to some more original writing set after ME3 though.

Kinda like that rating, yes: ME2>ME3>ME1

What I meant with "in a good sense" was, that the series improved over the years. It's the worst, but it's still a brilliant game.

Pretty much. My (completely arbitrary) rankings:

ME1: 85
ME2: 95
ME3: 96

I 3rd this.  I wonder if we won't see a rerelease of the 3 games when consoles upgrade with all of 'em on the ME 3 engine.

Just a theory, and ultimately a hope.

No way. ME1 did a lot of things right, but also a lot wrong. It had the best ending of the trilogy, and there's something to be said for driving around giant alien worlds, but everything else was just tedious.

Well, I wouldn't mind if we got rid of heat clips. But for the rest: they're simply too different games, so no. Things I liked about ME1 worked for ME1 because that game was technically very different from ME2 or ME3. They simply don't mix well. They're sequels to one another, and that's fine, but they're not exactly the same.

mass effect 1 is the best of the three over all but mass effect 2 did improve some things I think all three games did lots of things that were good and terrible

No, that would be going backwards in quality. ME1 was a great game but 2 & 3 are much more enjoyable to play.

Not. A chance. In hell.

My last three playthroughs of ME1 have been purely hit the plotworlds and Asteroid X-57 and skip, literally, everything else. Just to get the slog over with.

ME1 had great story but the gameplay.... no. I'd be more likely to get ME1 redone in ME3 (or perhaps ME2, but I love the CD/weapon choice/gun mods/mobility in ME3) style.

This.

ME2 and ME3 being remade to be like ME1 would be like taking 1000 steps backwards.

In terms of gameplay NO WAY, it was way too clunky and repetitive.

Depends on what "more like ME1" means.

Only if you mean "ME3 with an ending like ME1"

The OP ought to elaborate on the ways in which it would be remade.

I agree.  The gameplay of ME2 was a VAST improvement upon that of its predecessor.
