People seem to have a huge obsession with killing Liara off or at least looking for some way to do so, it's actually more than the "let's kill Tali off" obsession from several months ago.

My vote is no on that.

Fish tank it is. They ticked me off in ME2 until I could get whats-her-face to do it for me so they can go and be somebodies dinner for all I care.

I'd love to have an opportunity to kill Liara. I think i'd enjoy that.
Unfortunately, i just grew to dislike her as a forced squadmate / best friend / flirt / poor Prothean expert / lame Shadow Broker while i felt her ME1 bookish self was fine.
Plus she got her very own DLC along with so many other privileges.

It would make it even with all other squadmates.
I'd kill her, just because i could.
And also to hear the very last of her uptight voice.

I wouldn't want to kill Liara, I actually wish I did that would at least mean the character get's a reaction out of me. I just find her boring and her presence on the Normandy never made sense to me, not in ME1 and not here. Although I would pay if the DLC made it so we never had to take her on missions, but I'd like that for everybody.

I think it's highly unlikely that you'll be able to kill the most important ME3 squaddie in some DLC mission. BW would be forced to change the main game/Javik DLC to please a very small minority (= a waste of resources and money).

...How?  I'm sure I'll regret asking this but how is Liara particularly important throughout the game?  I mean yeah she's important in the beginning because she found the Crucible, but after that how is the game any different without Liara?  Is she crucial in gathering any of our allies?  No.  Does she direct us to any important intel on the Crucible/Catalyst?  No.  Does she direct us to Cerberus after they steal said intel?  No.  Realistically speaking if Liara had left the ship to work on the Crucible after Mars nothing would have changed.  Oh wait no we wouldn't have gotten the Ardat Yakshi mission, but other than that what does Liara do?

Turian Councillor points us to Palaven
Primarch points us to Sur'Kesh
Wrex/Mordin point us to Tuchanka
Then the coup happens
Can't remember who points us to Rannoch but I'm reasonably certain it's not Liara
Asari Councillor points us to Thessia
Shepard figures out there's a beacon
Traynor points us to Sanctuary
Sanctuary points us to Chronos
Vendetta points us to Earth

Unless I'm wrong and it is Liara who points us to Rannoch she literally does nothing critical to the progression of the main plot after Mars.  The only thing she does do that nobody else could, for some reason, is talk with Shep after he/she has a nightmare.

Edit: I'm not trying to hate on the character however if you're going to describe someone as most important in a narrative you need to establish what it is they do that no other character could.  Not just that they did, but that they were the only one who could.  Example Liara is the only character who could direct us to Ilos in ME1 because she's the only one who can meld with Shepard's mind and make sense of the Prothean data.

Apart from a clear case of writer ineptitude, they wanted to pander to their "romance" craving fanbase I suppose.

If it was possible I would have thrown Liara out the airlock, made Traynor the SB and reinstated Kelly as Yeoman.

Upgrades that you discover... She is useless. I wouldn't kill her, but I know others would. There are ways to kill Ashley, Wrex, Kaiden, Tali, and Garrus, but she's immune?

That would seem true, considering the fact that she's the only LI that appears nude. Even if she's not your Shepard's LI, it sure seems like the devs really push her onto the player. She gets a lot more screen time than any of the other squadmates. It's almost as if that was Mac Walters way of giving all the players who didn't embrace Liara as their favorite character the finger.

I actually entertained the idea of Traynor being the SB. I would like to think that she somehow assassinated Liara after she realized that she could do a better job and was in fact doing her job all along.

It's obvious the writers wanted her have plot armor up untl before Shepard makes it to the Citadel. My guess is that she probably would've been the only character that survived the entire trilogy and then becoming the PC in a spin off of the ME series, taking place centuries into the future. I don't know.

It has to do with character inconsistency and how they try to force her into the limelight. Her Character(s) are otherwise too unremarkable to hate(she even admits to being not very interesting in ME1 lol).

Traynor intercepts some messages, that's her job...as an communications specialist. Intercepting critical communications makes you a good communications specialist, not a good information broker.
