thats because in the original script Liara pointed you to Sanctuary but the writers changed it to Traynorso she had something to doSeboist wrote...
Traynor ended up being a better intelligence gatherer than Liara in ME3. Lmao
Will we get to kill off Liara in Leviathan?

Edit: I'm not trying to hate on the character however if you're going to describe someone as most important in a narrative you need to establish what it is they do that no other character could. Not just that they did, but that they were the only one who could. Example Liara is the only character who could direct us to Ilos in ME1 because she's the only one who can meld with Shepard's mind and make sense of the Prothean data.
Would you describe Garrus, Vega, Tali, the VS or EDI as more important? Let's for a moment assume Liara is killable in the DLC.
There is no time capsule -> BW is forced to change the refuse ending
They have to change the Javik DLC and the Thessia mission
Someone else has to explain the crucible (when Shepard talks to her in the hallway)

Traynor intercepts some messages, that's her job...as an communications specialist. Intercepting critical communications makes you a good communications specialist, not a good information broker.
Indeed.

Then you should read her terminal and visit her after every mission.

Yes that's why Bioware won't allow Liara to be killed but when you said, "most important squadmate" you implied they couldn't, that the story wouldn't work without her. If Bioware were willing to put in the work they could easily kill off or write out Liara after Mars, she's not crucial to anything after that point. So again I challenge you; why is Liara important, why is she the only character who can fill the role she does? That she does isn't an argument, looking at her character and others why must it be her.

What annoys me is that the majority of people who "happily" kill off someone like the VS, try to justify it by saying things such as "and that's what they get for even slighty doubting Shepard."
I think the uncertainty from the squadmates is perfectly valid when their Shepard's intends to gleefully kill them.
I'm suddenly reminded of this.

I get the feeling that if it weren't for the way the suicide mission was handled people wouldn't be so insistent on wanting certain characters dead now.

It is funny how many players think Liara is invincible however, when she could always die in Mass Effect 3. If you really want the character dead, do the beam rush with low EMS and bring Liara along. The two squadmates you bring on the beam rush will die.
The beam rush squadmates ALWAYS DIED in a low EMS playthrough by the way, even before the Extended Cut. Many players missed this however both because few played the game with low EMS, and because prior to the EC you didn't actually see a cutscene of the beam rush squadmates dying. They would just be lying dead on the ground when Shepard woke much like the Alliance Marines, and their bodies could be easy to miss.
At any rate, people need to get their facts straight before spouting off, "OMG why u make Liara invicible, Bioware?!" They didn't.

Ooh make it an addition to the firing range, instead of plain targets you can get cut outs of a character.
Edit: Or maybe a Darkspawn Chronicles style expansion.

That would actually be pretty neat. Priority Earth from a Marauder's viewpoint. Assisting you would be three husks, 2 cannibals, 1 brute, 1 Ravager and a banshee, with the ability to call a harvester at a certain spot. The final boss would be Shepard shambling towards the beam, the DLC could sync to one of your files so it would be that specific Shepard you see.
