After I'd completed the Unbound quest in the Dirty Back Alley in Denerim, the alley has totally disappeared from the city map. I'd understand if it was grayed out (although I don't know why it would be), but it's gone completely.
I'm running patch 1.02a.
[Bug] Denerim Dirty Back Alley area disappears completely from map (minor spoilers)

There's a fairly widely reported bug that causes that location to vanish from the map, possibly related to the Back Alley Justice quest. I don't think there's a solution yet, unfortunately.

Is it possible it disappears if you have done everything on the map?

I assumed it disappeared because there was nothing left there for the player. (chests were looted, quests were completed)

Well, I don't think I have anything left to do in that area, but that's not the behavior of how the game normally treats map icons. If it followed the usual behavior, the alley would be grayed out, not missing. And it's not like the other back alleys have anything left to do in them, either, and they're still available.

I don't see the point of going there after finishing the Unbound quest so it didn't seem strange to me.

It's definitely a bug, I had done all the quests including Unbound and then it dissapeared.
Only there's a woman there that I still have to deliver a Notice of Death to so I can complete the quest.
I know the Denerim debug script (runscript zz_den_debug) wont allow you to teleport there manually.
The only other thing I would think could work is going into the toolset and manually changing your location in the game save. I would have tried this myself but I havn't been able to get the toolset to install properly, and even if I could, I wouldn't know how to go about editing a save.

So it's likely related to finishing the Unbound quest, then.

The workaround I've seen is to not visit the Back Alley area until after you have gotten the Back Alley Justice Quests. That seems to avoid the glitch of it disappearing later.

What the hell? I'm also encountering this bug after cleaning this whole area. Why isn't it patched yet? (using 1.03)

Umm... bug or not, there are no other quests at that location other than Back alley justice and Unbound. The other people you need are at other locations.

I need to get the Black Vials quest finished in the Dirty Back Alley but I cannot get there. Is there a way to complete The Black Vials now?

Khalan, the Black Vials quest is a random encounter, it doesn't use the Dirty Back Alley map. Just travel around Denerim and you'll get it.
@Yadk: There is the 'notices of death' quest as well in that area (delivering the notes to the widows). This got me on one save game, since I was like 'ah, I'll talk to her later.' Never made that mistake twice.
