I had to get a new xbox and no longer have any ME2 saves on it. I'm playing ME1 when I have time and will probably finish it soon. I want to play ME3 but I need to do ME2 if I want my imports except I hate ME2. I know people love it. I just don't and would rather not play it at all. The only thing that made it better was gibbed on casual play to I could fly through it. I just feel like my shep is thrown into a nightmare and I'm stuck with it if I want to import into 3 anything from 1 like romance and choices. Is there a way around it?

Also, I had to replay ME1 because I didn't get a bonus power and I had always gotten a bonus power but it might have been due to hex editing it so I could start with better weapons (seriously, those starting weapons, armor, etc are horrible). So I went back and did a clean one with the terrible weapons and worked my way through two plays to get to level 50 something. But I really don't want to play ME2 due to the massive amount of hate for it. Any suggestions? And any clue as to why I didn't get a bonus power when I'd always gotten a bonus power? Could it have because I hex edited that game?

How exactly do we get bonus powers anyway? I've looked all over the net and can't find anything that explains how it's earned except I think somewhere it had to do with medals or something. Thanks!

This may be a stupid question, but if you hate ME2 what makes you think you'll like ME3?

Probably the fact that ME2 is useless space Pokemon with Jesus Christ as protagonist while ME3 continues the Shepard/Milky Way vs. Reapers plot.

With you on the ME2 space Jesus thing, and I can see why the Pokemon reference even I don't agree (it's only a dozen and you really don't have to get them all) but ME3 continues ME1? Really? Because the few hours I've played felt a lot more like Shepard vs Cerberus' (which after losing money on Shepard and the Normandy SR2 should be on its uppers) inexplicably vast and well equipped mook army. Worse, the Reaper element turns ME1's brilliant semi-chthonic villains into AI retards making more AI retards and makes Sovereign with all his "beyond your understanding, rudimentary creatures of flesh and blood" stuff look like a tool.
Sovereign deserves a better ending game.

I've already played them all many many times. I just don't care for ME2. I have that right and I have plenty of reasons why I feel this way. If forced to play it I will, but for now, avoiding it would be great, but I suspect I can't. It just feels very disconnected from the original to me. And the loyalty missions irk me in that it's anything but childish for an adult who CHOOSES to be on a mission with you to not be loyal to you when you go out of your way to do the mission to help them fix their problem. And if it doesn't go how they want they aren't loyal to you? Going out of the way for someone should earn loyalty. Heck, all but thane's were garrus' were major battles yet all the same at their core. The loyalty BS alone is enough for me to hate the game. Nevermind that it really doesn't fit into the whole trilogy sense wise. We're after the reapers and now it's about a collector base and oh for kicks they just have to destroy the original normandy, stick her with the most revolting character in the trilogy (I prefer reapers to IM) and turn everyone whose trust she had gained against her because she's stuck in the most devisive situation a team of writers could ever manage? And then there's the idiotic human reaper which humans are being liquified to make or lubricate in some way? Please tell me how that human reaper is going to function because it looks like the dumbest thing I've ever seen.

The only thing I truly love about it is the final push on the suicide mission. That is awesome. The rest of it is an epic fail as a game in this trilogy to me. The whole thing is one monotonous battle after another and basically all the same on some level with different bad guys perhaps. Talk about lazy writing. At least I have my ME1 crew back in ME3 for the most part and I'm no longer ostracized in a lame way. Sure I have Garrus in ME2, but he can only do so much when your stuck with characters like Jack and Jacob, Miranda who borders on rude until you do her loyalty mission yet spent two years of her life bringing you back from the dead? WTH? I HATE ME2 and I am allowed to hate it. I played it the first few times and sure it was okay, but when doing different characters and playthroughs, it's the nightmare of the series to me.

And now for some random unknown reason when I start it Ino longer get my bonus power and I really want my bonus power but cannot find any documentation as to what qualifies me to get it when in every other play through but the last few times I tried I have not gotten it. Makes no sense to me at all. I do prefer ME3 to this. Massively.

No need to go so defensive. Nobody's saying you can't hate it. Just asking why the things that you hate about it don't make you hate ME3 almost as much if not more. I'm no TIM fan either - the guy's an epic tool if you ask me - but ME3 almost revolves around him and his personal and pulled right out of his arse army. Reapers? Felt to me like the writers went "Ah yes, *airquotes* Reapers. We've demoted those villains because we're all so in luuuurve with TIM and Cerberus."

But if for whatever reason you can play ME3 without those things annoying you and want to skip ME2 I'd suggest looking into the Gibbed save editor for ME3 to recreate ME1 decisions and set your chosen ME2 decisions. I doubt an import from 1 to 3 is possible since 1 seems to use a different format for the career saves. Another option might be to download a complete or near complete ME2 with the decisions from the first two games that you want, or most of them (Gibbed the rest if need be) and then import that into 3.

if you want to hear my honest opion, don't play ME3 at all (headcanon an ending etc.), it will likely either fill you with rage or stumble in disbelief about the wasted potential of the trilogy.

as psifive mentioned, the gibbed editor is developed enough by now, that you can play each part of the series separately and emulate all decison minus some very minor ones (not that they really matter at all *potshot* :) )

Seeing as your choices don't count for much more than a hill of beans anyway I don't see why not. ME2 does have it where it counts though, the gameplay, true the story doesn't make a lot of sense in the context of the original, but why would you think that ME3's will be any better?

I agree entirely, Mass Effect 3 is a stand alone game on the same level as Mass Effect 2(if not more). But they are much more closer to each other than either of them are to Mass Effect 1.

Each to their own, but it seems a peculiarly daft thing to do to play a trilogy and yet not play a trilogy.. Skip Empire and go to Jedi? Reloaded to Revolutions?* TDK to Rises?

Then again I see ME2 as, if pushed to pick one, my favourite of the series so I'd be biased.
I reckon: play/watch/read a trilogy, or don't bother with any of them.

* - no joke... I think all three are essential

So you want to skip the best of the series to play the worst? Save your money.
