If undead Shepard is the same Shepard as in ME1, you shouldn't have such a hard time understanding control Shepard is a synthetic Shepard, but still Shepard.

We are thoughts and memory and meat. The meat was lost, while the rest continued. Death of the human Shepard, birth of the synthetic Shepard. Who he was, and who he is now. When people make big changes it's not rare to hear "the person I was", or, "I feel like a different person". Not to mention the perspective shift. When recounting his past, his companions, and his sense of duty, I heard more than pure logic. More than just the new programming to be followed.
If Shepard can't continue in this way in the ME universe, then Shepard isn't Shepard in ME2 so it doesn't matter. And events in Overlord and the Geth consensus. Even the Asari joining that transends the physical body. That and it's a video game.
Deal with it. Or not, it's all good.

Yup, he may have gotten a bit old in Revelations, but his final speech at the end of the game is LEGENDARY.
