Just to clarify a few things on the recent N7 Typhoon balance changes...

We've done a lot of internal tests on the N7 Typhoon comparing it to other assault rifles and other weapons, and even with the recent nerf it is still incredibly powerful. One of the reasons for this is that the weapon has an inherit 50% damage bonus versus armor, shields, and barriers. This far outclasses other weapons in terms of damage bonuses against resistances. The Revenant, for example, does not get this bonus and does regular damage to armor, shields, and barriers.

As always, we'll keep an eye on the balance of the N7 Typhoon, but if you have the weapon please test it out in game against different enemies to see how it feels. The numbers can often be deceiving so it's difficult to tell how effective a weapon is on paper.

I think it's impossible to get. It keeps eluding me.

Edit: AHH! Was I allowed to comment on this? It didn't show the Bioware logo next to the thread. Those never load on my phone.

Did you hit 3 while playing your QI? I bet that overrode the lock.

Thanks. I was hoping you guys would make such a statement.

Hopefully this will kill a lot of the hyperbole and general stupidity around here these days.

I'll test it again, but the ramp up time is really annoying when I'm trying to kill standard enemies, and not bosses.

EDIT: I do have it. See my sig about that. I don't play ME3 on this Origin.

I thought the nerf was overall for the better. It is still a great gun but now allows the possibility for more options such as the revenant to be used. Before it pretty much overshadowed any other assault rifle outside of the Harrier.

If you temporarily up the drop rate to 100% I'll be glad to test it out!

Edit: so I got one in the very next pack.   Found it pretty underwhelming on my low-level Destroyer: however, I only tried a few bronze solo waves, which means I didn't really get the benefit of the shields/barrier/armour multipliers.

I doubt I'll be using it much at lvl 1, but will certainly give it another go if & when it levels up a bit: many weapons I thought were garbage initially have proved to be great once upgraded a few times.

I really would not start comparing the Typhoon to other ARs. Sure, the Typhoon was too strong at launch as a weapon, but you can not possibly mean that it should be brought in line with other Assault Rifles when you frequently buff Assault Rifles for them being weak. :P

Does this bonus multiply with the damage ramp up? (Ie. Bonus vs shields/Armor/ect applies to first hits, then is effected by the ramp up)

Which character did you test with internally? The entire lot or certain known characters that skew any weapons output?

The bonus to resistances multiplies the final damage number, so it is incredibly powerful.

As mentioned earlier, we did many tests on a variety of kits, mods, builds.

Does it ignore the armor damage reduction?

Thank you, that will ease a lot of surrering.

Edit: As an example, a Phoon with Barrel and Mag mod attachments, Warfighter 5, Rail amp 3 and AP 3 dishes out 1570.5 DPS at I and 2008.5 DPS at X
(To Armor. DPS is possibly higher with AR Amp 5, warp ammo IV vs Barriers and such)

Testing always involves using it with a variety of classes.

I haven't tried it out post-nerf, but it was pretty ridiculous the way it was (which is why I put it away), and with this new info on damage bonuses in mind, it will take a lot for me to consider the nerf too heavy handed when I eventually try it out again.

Again, thanks for clearing this up.
