The Typhoon is fine.

Actually, it was fine before the nerf....it's the Piranha that needs some work. That thing is like the right hand of God.

I love the Typhoon. I have it a level 10 and it absolutely kills everything, even after the "nerf".

What would be great is make it so that smart choke has no effect on the typhoon, combine that with the accuracy bonuses from HM and DM no longer affecting the piranha. I believe that without any accuracy bonuses the piranha is nice as a high-risk high-reward gun.

I don't care if it's a "good" gun. The Mattock and Phaeston are both "good" guns - the Typhoon is an N7 Ultra-rare weapon. It should be fantastic, not just "good". When the only bonus to exposing yourself to enemy fire for a long period of time (Gold/Platinum frequenters rejoice) goes from a 2x damage bonus to a 1.5x damage bonus, I think that's a bit uncalled for.

What's the likelyhood of the balance team proving it doesn't know what it's doing by nerfing the Typhoon for a 3rd time tommorow and leaving the Pirahna untouched?

If that doesn't prove it I'm not sure anything will. Still haven't got a Typhoon and it's killing my desire to play...

The balance changes that happen today may be the beginning of the end as we know it. Or perhaps the birth of something that we can all look forward too.

I still pray we see the Typhoon's resurrection.

For one I think both the revenant and typhoon should have that 50 percent bonus and not just the typhoon since they are both more or less light machine guns and not assault rifles so they should both be real strong and have lots of ammo, and that bonus. Now as far as the recent nerf that was bull it didn't need it since it was great for what it was made for the destroyer class and it's devastator power which makes it have turret like firepower and it did. But without that power it is weaker with other classes still strong of course but not the same. Now since the nerf it hasnt been the same. I noticed that its weaker and since the destroyer is real slow when you have the devastator mode on you need a strong weapon like the typhoon to destroy enemies quickly or you get swarmed and with the weight of the typhoon being real high you get a real low recharge rate so it's not like it's a great weapon for any class it did already have some negative benefits. So why the nerf makes no sense I know people that do better without the typhoon then with it and only time I really see people using the typhoon is with gun heavy classes like the soldier class mainly since recharge rate doesn't matter and they have a class that requires guns. Why can't the soldier class have something it needs it's not like some classes who rely on powers and dont need a gun and choose to use mainly powers that's why we have all these choices so that all classes have a fair chance on the field no matter what their class or playing style is. I wish they stop nerfing weapons and instead worked on improving the bad ones that makes more sense to fix something that no one is using not ruin something that is popular. Isn't the idea to have fun when you play a coop multilayer game online with friends and  aren't we suppose to have the choice of what we use, what class we play with that fits our character and playing style. Nothing is ever equal or the same in action RPGs  since we choose on what character we use, how we build them, and what items, weapons, etc we assign to them. That's what makes the game fun now when I hear about all this nerfing and balancing things i forget what kind of game am I playing this isn't a shooter so why all the whining about balance I except everything to be different and not the same or equal that's why I play mass effect 3  for the role playing element in it not because I want a full blown shooter title.

About the piranha being the right hand of god. I love the piranha but I know many people that don't and say its inaccurate and can't shoot far. Now the way I use it it I disagree but then again I'm a shotgun guy the people who complain are probably not. So thats probably why I rule with it and they don't. Now tell me is the gun really to strong or is it that the player using it has a better player skill with shotguns or that gun then others who dislike? My point is that player skill and what you like matters the most so leave gun alone alone if it ain't broke don't fix it. Now doesn't it make more sense to improve or fix or improve the broken guns or guns no one uses not the popular guns that people use and like!!!!!

holy wall of text batman..........

Finally unlocked the Typhoon today and it seems pretty lackluster compared to the harrier.

The only class that it really is decent on is the destroyer. Due to free ammo, there's no reason to take it on the demolisher.

Seemed to do crap damage against bosses for the amount of time you have to spend out of cover.

It's not horrible, but it could use a small buff again.

Actually, it was effectively 3x before (except against health), and it seems to have been cut to 1.875x (intentionally or unintentionally). However, in my (now quite extensive) testing, the 50%/25% protection bonus doesn't seem to apply correctly. Or rather, it seems to not apply in many cases for no apparent reason -- like a Destroyer with no mods on the gun whatsoever and no Devastator Mode on may not get it, but toss on some gear and suddenly your damage is multiplied out in a way not observed with other weapons.  AP mod also seems to be totally broken with the Typhoon, providing a bonus on the warmup rounds but causing your fully-charged rounds to receive the full damage penalty. In my testing with Warp Rounds, you do receive reduced armor DR there. It's all quite frustrating...

The Wraith is currently the 3rd best shotgun in the game. Your last statement is a clear indicator of exactly how little you know about the mechanics of what you are using.

Such a statement is a clear indicator of exactly how little time you spend PLAYING the game instead of drooling over mechanics. With all respect, just shut up already.

Pretty much.

Currently the order of win is: Piranha, Claymore, Reegar, GPS and then Wraith. Though the Wraith is arguably the second best caster-class shotgun in the game (was recently dethroned by Piranha for top-tier in the caster-shotty category).

Ill leave the trolling to the professionals. Trying to "melt" a brute with a lvl 1 character with a lvl 1 Typhoon is much easier that if you were to do it with an Avenger. Trust. Won't take you as long either. Even still on Silver. Its the Typhoon. Plus you really compair the respec of the Krysae to the Typhoon because the Krysae got screwed with no lube.

I thought you said you were going to leave trolling to the professionals.

That's not trolling.

If talking about how much easier it is to kill Brutes with an Ultra Rare weapon instead of a Common weapon on Bronze isn't Trolling then what is?

Here's an example of trolling: "Are you kidding?! The Revenant X is way more powerful than the Typhoon at any level! I was DOMINATING this Brute the other day on my Turian Marksman! I totally outscored the Typhoon X Destroyer player and it has more ammo, does more damage and is lighter!" *Ensuing angst and rage against intentionally incorrect and falsified post leads to flame war between Revenant and Typhoon players.*"

Pretty sure you could kill a Brute faster on Bronze (or any difficulty for that matter) with a Typhoon then with a Avenger. That's not trolling last I checked.

LOL. You must be playing different games. I played with Specter and he emptied clip after clip on his Typhoon X and still could not bring down a Banshee.

Well, I guess it's not trolling persay, but it's about as stupid as a comparison could get. After all, comparing the starter AR to an Ultra-Rare AR... the starter of any weapon type should kill stuff way, way slower than a UR version, that's just common sense. If it didn't that meant the UR in question is rubbish if the starter weapon is just as good =/

What are you guys on about?

What class? What build? What purpose?

Answer these questions before going on about which gun is "best" and then introduce personal taste and playing style into the equation. There are no absolutes here. There can't be.

I don't use the Piranha that much any more for example. I used it as a sidearm on the Destroyer, but now I use my Crusader V for the fun.

I don't use the Claymore on anything that is power dependant. That leaves me with the MQI and the GI.

I don't use the GPS any more cause I got bored of it. I used to run it on my salarian engineer and Human soldier.

so on and so forth

I have Typhoon Level 4, I try it for gold level and I feel this altra rare gun should NOT use in GOLD difficulty. There are more efficient ways to kill enemies than this. I remember I had a prenerfed Typhoon Level 1, it was a great weapon much better than nerfed one. (Even Phaeston can have a chance to beat Typhoon)Image IPB

-.- I still use typhoon (Typhoon III) on gold (with a batarian) and I don't see a reason why I should not use it. It performs wonderful against cerberus phantoms (I put assault rifle dmg amp and mag extender on it plus barrage upgrade 1 for better ammo and stability) and you can kill off atlases pretty fast with it (if they get close, switch to your powerful shotgun, preferably a piranha, but a reegar carabine should do as well, just don't use the claymore, if you miss on gold, there's a high chance that you die)

If you wanna use it properly (the typhoon) then fire from cover for more accuracy and aim for the weak spot of the enemy (the atlas takes more damage if hit on the round engine on its back)

Tried again Rio Platinum Reapers and yes, Rio with loads of ammocrates and both good nooks and good lenghts for backpedalling favors the weapon. Still takes long to kill large prey (and hard to hit small) - partial rebuff is in order.

They should make permanent gear that partly (or totally, depending on level) ameliorates the effects of stun when firing weapons. And make all the hardier races be stun-proof.
