Hello...i think it's a known bug....i also remember that i fixed it some time ago, before my ssd exploded and i had to reinstall all from scratch...The annoying bug is the annoying black ground in any location of dragon age awakening. It's the steam version.
I tried turning off anti aliasing, frame buffer, vertical sync....I also updated my graphic card (Nvidia Geforce GTX570) to the latest driver, but the bug still remains....

What can i do? it is pretty unplayable like this....Thanks all for your help

Make sure Steam has patched the game fully (1.05 is the latest)... you may have to restart the Steam client in order to force it to update. After that, you may want to check the Steam client's utility that verifies the integrity of the game files.

If that does not work, I suggest using Google to do a more detailed search of all the forums. Do this by typing the following in the search bar...

site:social.bioware.com

... followed by your keywords.

Afraid I am not very good with Awakening-related bugs... and there are a lot of them. The Dragon Age Wiki may have something on it.

Well, i fixed second one by loading an older save....

Regarding the black terrain one, though, i do not know what else i could try. Game is full patched and gamefiles are ok. Might this be a problem of directx? I think i have read something like that on google results....

Black textures can be the result of a failure to load the textures properly, or just corrupted textures altogether. It could also be corrupt video drivers (did you do complete uninstall of the previous drivers and clean your registry before installing the latest ones?), Direct3D or PhysX may be damaged, or the game itself is in need of a reinstall. Do you have any texture mods, like JB3, installed? Lastly, have you checked the Steam forums to see if there's a Steam version specific issue?

yes, i have jb3 textures, but they work almost perfectly in all other places.....black ground is only in awakening in the vigil keep, in amaranthine, and in the random encounters. Yes, i have uninstalled old drivers and installed new ones, and no, is not only a steam problem

JB3 does have issues with black textures sometimes if you have all the optional files installed. According to the mod's page on DA Nexus, "Game engine is bad, have memory leak. Use only JB3 main file, and updates, don't use optional files if you have any problems with graphic in game, like glitches, black textures. Game work better on 64 bit systems." Perhaps try uninstalling that mod to see if that changes anything? I understand you've not had problems before, but it may be worth trying since black textures are usually the result of a problem in graphics rendering.
