Hey, I am at the Denerim City Gates during the final onslaught, the
darkspawn have stopped coming but I can't move on to the next part of
the game, i have ran around the entire map, talked to everyone to no
avail...

you missed a trigger somewhere that triggers the NPC grey warden to activate the next step in the quest. try reloading an earlier save and doing it again.
