A.K.A. The Gossip's History of Fereldan

The guard at Cailan's tent says that Loghain and Cailan have been arguing:

"Teyrn Loghain sees the king whenever he can and argues with him over coming battles, but the king just waves him off. The king thought it was funny the teyrn called him reckless. And they fought about the queen. He wasn't happy about something she did or the king did... I'm not sure. I probably shouldn't discuss it."

But we should!

Personally, I think the King was being told off for coveting Duncan's beard too blatantly. True commanders are clean-shaven. Beardie guys are only good at hallucinating magical dragons and picking up Orlesian STDs.

Other less likely scenarios: the argument  was about Anora's childlessness. Was Cailan planning to do a Henry VIII? Or possibly it was about Cailan's women, who're discreet but not quite discreet enough.

So what do you think?

Hahahah, this was too funny.

I'm not sure, but i've heard before that Anora can't have children... so mmm, i don't know.  For some reason i think Cailan is gay.. or bisexual.

But yeah, it's a bit strange that they have been married for 5 yeas and they don't have an heir yet.

Well maybe he did covet Duncan's beard but Loghain would not let him grow one because Duncan is Orlesian

It is impossible to covet Duncan's beard more than you should.

Duncan's beard required round the clock coveting.

That's the whole plot of  'Return to Ostagar' in fact. Rescue Duncan's beard from the archdemon. If successful, it becomes an equippable item. For the PC, that is. Alistair ain't worthy.

No it is a party character. but it is so OP that it ruins the game.

If Hurlocks come from human broodmothers, Genlocks from Dwarves and Shreiks from Elves....what manner of terror would a Duncan's Beard broodmother produce if they dragged it from the battllefield and back underground?

Serious answer: It's either Calian has a bastard child or Anora is barren and thus he wants to divorce her for another who can give him one. Could be entirely possible that Anora is the one screwing around too. We are suppose to find out his political agenda in the DLC right?

Silly side... Are you trying to say that Duncan is really Chuck Norris?

Tsh! Don't type it so plainly. Now everyone knows.

Serious time: I pretty much assumed that since according to the guard it's Loghain who's arguing with Cailan, Anora isn't the one who's being given the blame. Not to say that she doesn't have it independent of her daddy's judgement. Maybe Cailan wasn't so happy about his wife giving the orders as various people say he was.

His weapons are a distraction, his real specialization is roundhouse kicks

Wait, where does that leave Chuck Norris' beard then?

On topic, I always read it that Anora wanted Cailen to wait for Redcliffe and listen to her Dad, rather than charge into battle alongside the wardens. I might be way off base there, but I just got that impression.

Calian wants his pants back so to speak then? Hm makes sense ;)

I sort of got the impression things were a bit more shady than that cause the guard sort of says he shouldn't be talking about it. Why not talk about the battle considering the lives at stake? Not like gossip doesn't get around anyway lol. I just thought about the bastard child because Anora says when you speak to her that Calian wasn't faithful.

EDIT:

This beard is doing the roundhouse kick ;)

I completely missed the bit about him being unfaithful. I should go back through that conversation again and choose some different options.

I was playing my female rogue when talking to her and since I was suggesting the marriage while in a relationship with Alistair it came up. Anora did love him but I think she wanted a bit of revenge at the same time. Nothing like a woman scorned.

Yep - the full quote:

"Cailan had his women. He was thoughtful enough to keep them discreet, but I always knew. Am I to have yet another husband whose eyes lie elsewhere? If so, I would appreciate knowing now."

You just have to live with Cailan/Alistair type of guy for a while to understand Anora completely. When I told her she should marry Alistair, she did such /facepalm that I felt deeply sorry for her.

I don't remember the part about Cailan being unfaithful either. Damn I guess I'll just have to play again!

Ahh.  I think I abandoned the request for her to marry Alistair after she said, "Err, I thought you guys were an item..."  Or something to that effect.
