Also, power doesn't corrupt.

That's an incredibly rosy view you have there. Ever heard of the Lucifer Effect?

And a dictator is still a dictator, even if s/he rules with cotton candy and rainbows.

nothing i said was rosy, youre simply cherrypicking a clip and taking it out of context. actually a dictator isnt much of a dictator if he's acting like a democratically elected president and is putting fair rules and free speech in place

If my Shepard survived Destroy, he would never have a good nights sleep again. Tali's going to have to deal with a lot of night terrors.

You're thinking in theoreticals. Sure it's all rosy when he's acting democratically, but in the end he has the last word. He detains absolute power. Nothing good ever comes out of that. You think that every dictator in history was doing it for the evilz? They thought they were doing what was best for their country. That's incredibly broad. Power corrupts.

My Shepard will feel terrible too, he'll need a lot of time to recover, if ever. You don't escape unschated from making a choice like that.

Sacrifices must be made; my Shepard isn't about to turn the whole galaxy's dna into something unknown just to save one robot. I mean, seriously? She is a soldier in a war.

I don't think you know what "cherry picking" means--I asked you a question because what you answer determines how I address your qualification. If you truly believe the power of a Pure Heart™ will keep people from committing acts of evil, then what you wrote is not only rosy, but empirically incorrect.

That being said, again, a dictator is still a dictator. It does not matter how s/he acts. Unless the AI never intervenes in galactic society in any way, shape, form or fashion, it is removing agency and the power of self-determination. Even if it acts in what it believes is in the best interest for everyone, it is still, by nature, a bad thing. And benevolent "wisdom" is what began the mess with the original Catalyst in the first place.

You can save a lot of people but you have to kill one of your best friends for it. Would you still push the button in real life? Let me answer that right away because you wouldnt. Nobody of us would do it. Humans are emotion driven. So seeing things with cold logic is the wrong way to do it.

actually, you sholuld only speak for yourself because its quite obvious you lack the will or backbone to make hard decisions. If the choice was 2 friends or BILLIONS of people, i choose the billions.

No you wouldnt.
Good thing for you that you will never get in such a situation so you can continue to talk about how badass you are and how you are the master over your emotions.

I stopped caring about EDI as soon as she became nothing but a sex object for Joker. There was absolutely no need to deviate from the role she played in ME2.

None.

Oh internet white-knights, if only you could realize you're just as immature as that which you condemn.

My Shep liked her. She was cool. But in the end he had to make a tough decision.

I don't understand people who don` choose destroy because EDI and GEths die.
They are robots - they don`t have feelings, they emulate them, even if it is fully AI.

I never understood it either, especially with EDI saying she would be willing to die if that's what it took.

May I direct you to this thread?

More importantly, what is the difference between my brain and a full AI's?

upon reflection, this feels like a very modified version of a prisoners dilemna in some ways. Not fully because it technically eschews numbers to make something absolute in terms of morality, but in practice it is a hard call to make. Do you kill a friend to save people you don't know, or gamble the many on an unknown future?

Two different styles of thought there. You either are full on Spock with the needs of the many, or you are more emotional in effectively murdering people.

Because I feel they are just as valid a form of existance as we are, no matter their origins. Any being that can question its own existance deserves to live and be treated with respect IMO.

That's organic bias. You realize that we have our own programmin to follow, and that the human brain is nothing but an organic computer? Unless you want to go spiritual, and talk about abstract things like "souls" or anything else, you're argument doesn't make sense. EDI and the Geth are as valid as life forms as we are.

youre confused if you think im talking in theoreticals. your point is moot b/c ive already addressed that. they strayed from their original morality to a point where the 'ends justify the means' or they never truly had that morality in the first place.

Also, how one expresses emotions may vary, you can't look at them from a human perspective, they're simply not human, and won't think/feel/express themselves as we do. We would have to accept them for their differences.

yes i would. some of us possess the ability to make these types of hard decisions. its not badass, its just life. stop being so emo. youre playing shepard, a military officer, yet youre acting like a bronie. personally i would find whoever could sacrifice billions for 2 people has no morals whatsoever
