I noticed the game runs a little bit sluggish on my PC, so, I used FRAPS to check on the FPS. I'm getting avg 45 fps on maxed out settings but it drops to as low as 32 in dense areas expecially if there are environmental effects.

The reason I'm starting this thread is because I always aim for a solid 60 FPS on all games. Even in Skyrim with High-res texture pack and Max Payne 3 I get 60. And, I don't really like to play sluggish games.

I have a Radeon HD 7850, Phenom II X6 2.8GHz CPU, 8gb ram and play at 1680x1050. I have all settings maxed out but have also tried setting them to high instead and disabling Vsync but I still don't get a solid 60.

Is there something I'm missing or is this because it's an old game and not very friendly with newer hardware?

I feel you on wanting a solid and consistent 60fps for smoother gaming. Do you have any mods installed, in particular ones that modify, enhance, or improve graphics? How many other programs are running in the background while you play? Am I right to assume that you're running a 64-bit OS?

35-45 fps is about right for a higher-end rig running DA:O. The Eclipse game engine isn't really optimized for better graphics throughput, and certain areas/effects (I'm looking at you, Fade Boss Fight!) can overwhelm things.

I don't have any major mods installed only small gameplay related mods nothing about graphics. It must be something with the engine then.

So, I'll just bear with it for now I guess. Thanks people ;)
