I receaved DA:O as a gift in the beginning of the month and I never played the game for all the game breaking bugs that I learned. But now, I'm rather bored.

I was wondering how does your save suddently become corrupt?
By that I mean: Is it random? Do I have to do a certain glitch and my file will get corrupted from it? Or do I have to get to a certain area with certain criteria and my file will get corrupt?

Thanks alot.

So far I can tell you. Here's the basic drill.

- Do not, whatever you do, use a money glitch and duplicate items or whatever crazy cheat you can think of.

- Every merchant has certain amounts of slots, that's usually 120. Now, this means if you sell too many items on ONE merchant, it will possibly corrupt your save data. So spread your loot to every merchant. You will do fine,

- The party camp merchant [ spoiler ] holds every item for you even when you sold it, thus everything STAYS with him until it refreshes, but that's on a far more latter point. Just sell the high unique armor and stuff to him you should be fine.

- Make more saves per character, different points each. So you can call back on one of them IF a corrupted save occurs. Personally nothing happened to me yet through all the playthroughs.

I cannot confirm that, but yes, it might happen. But still, it's rare every save data gets corrupted at once. But mind you, every save slot takes 17MB of storage, outrageous I know.

But just, your biggest concern would be glitching for your own benefit and selling everything to one merchant.

wow, 17mb? I was used to save everytime I do something (1 per min lol) in fallout 3 and oblivion since I played a terrible game called Far cry 2, where corruption is part of the gameplay....AND the saving system.

Well, thanks, going to start playing a little bit.

BTW: I see that a lot of people think that Bioware abandonned us because the patch take too long. But this isn't true. Programming on consoles is harder and longer. After succesfully fixing bugs sometimes it break something that was working before. After it work then need to test it with testers, get a certification from EA then send the file to microsoft. Microsoft will then provide his approuval.  (You see that this system is less complex on the pc...)

and worst. With Microsoft, patch need to be of a certain size or it will become a DLC and if it is too big it will be a purchasable DLC.

Thats why it take time.

Far cry 2 was a remarkable failure but ambitious. But boring.

And yes, I mean this. 17 MB for one save slot, so I hope you are willing to make room for every save. But let me tell you I don't have multiple save slots, I play it for weeks and no corruptions yet.

Hehe, just play nice and fair or even PM me if you have some questions. I never encountered one, so if you are doubting some decisions, just nudge.
