We'll have to agree to disagree then. I think there's no reward in promoting, you like promoting. At the end of the day, we both have fun playing this game. That's what matters.

It's weird if we look at this whole promotion thing as tied to ego. It should be the case that the relatively low N7 ranks of non-promoters would make those with high ranks feel better about themselves.
It's because the guy with an N7 rank of 500 odd, beats a player with an N7 rank in the thousands, makes some people feel like you damaged their ego.

So I'm tired of all the threads going off in rants about how n7 is worthless and is no indicator of skill and how people that kick low n7 players are retarded.
So I've a better question; what is the point of playing with level 20 characters?
You waste exp, your overpowered character makes everything too easy and stale so it can't be for fun, the only logical answer would be to grind for credits, and if that is the sole reason you play, you may as well grind fbwgg all day... so the only reason you don't promote and watch how you get closer to 20k warassets (and closer to your secret ending) is to grind for credits in a behavior that many games have used to trap and sometimes kill people with questionable mental health...
Now the Levels are overpowered too?

If someone likes to kick players with low n7 rank he is in all his rights to do so, after all, he needs 75% of the lobby to agree with him, so don't complain when others kick you out of their game.

Playing at level 20 and not promoting is probably the reason 90% of the population on this game are trash. Playing at the top level all the time takes away a lot of the consequences of the game in terms of playstyle. Since the CC slash I've become a much better player. Don't have as many tools to drop enemies so I think of other ways. I never "flanked" enemies before CC slash.
High N7 yet never even thought about a basic tactic like flanking? Yes, N7 is SOOOO meaningful.

*laughing* ... not being 'allowed' to play with people with poor tactics and an egotestical ePeen who want carrying through gold is the best reason of all to not promote.
Have fun

You can have fun promoting your character if you want, but I find it useless. Don't tell others how to play the game.
They won't be amazed by your n7 rating when you'll try to play as 1 lvl character in gold lobby.
They will simply kick you.

Just now I realized what I'm doing is pointless as well, you clearly don't see beyond the average persons perspective. So church to you.
1st: Not in any of the groups that the people I know are playing in. I don't care what your n7 level is. If you're character is level 1, you 're not tagging along with us on gold or platinum. Nothing personal, but at level 1 your health and shields are junk, and you have no abilities to add to the team. So, you're squishy and you can't do anything but shoot, and that's not something that's hard to replace. No offence, but we're not carrying you so that you can boost your n7 level. I have some friends that like to promote, and I'll help them do it, but not putting myself out to carry a random.
2nd: You know what else is pointless? Constantly saying someone is wasting exp when they don't need it. If I'm maxed out, exp is meaningless. I don't care how much the game gives. It doesn't get me anything that matters that I don't already have. At most, I simply work my way back to the very place I started from. If anything, I could say that you are wasting exp by promoting. You're wasting the exp you used to level up in the first place, and you're throwing away everything you gained by leveling up.
Finally, your rant about character cards exposes your motives completely. It's all about trying to look better than you are. You go on and on about the challenge of playing that low level character, then you complain that you're getting less free exp from character cards. If leveling up was really about fun, then why would you care about CCs? Wouldn't your game be more enjoyable if they didn't give you any exp?

it isn't fair to call people who kick low N7s noobs, because lets face it, the N7 rank is the only indication we have of a player's experience level. The only one, and if you don't feel like risking your time playing Platinum with a newb, what are you supposed to do? Leave an already filled lobby, or just kick the one low-level random?
I am N7 440, not terribly high, but not that low either, and I will in fact kick anyone I don't know who is below N7 150 if it's Platinum, because the N7 rank is the only indication of player 'experience' that BioWare decided to provide us with.

There is no point to this thread, nor your original premise. People get told the same thing over and over again. Either, you chose a class they didn't like, your weapons aren't great, they wanted the space for someone else, your level was too low or if it's after a match, you just sucked, in which case your N7 rating isn't going to change that. You're still going to get kicked.

Unless the person is n7 50 or something, n7 rank is a horrible way to judge a person's experience. A much better way is to check out their weapons and gear. While still not a perfect method, it tends to give a clearer picture of how much the person has played the game. that, or they've spent a whole lot of microsoft points.

Add to many high n7s who suck in silver and some who suck in gold, that i've personally seen, i can fully understand all the eye rolling when someone proudly states they got thousands of n7 as if it shows how good they are.

I don't worrie about looking better. I play the game to level my character buy ultra rares shoot mindless enemies. If I did care how I looked I wouldnt even join a gold lobby as level 1. But I do, and am able to because of my N7. (Which honestly isnt high) And its sad that you honeslty believe a level 1 could not support the team and perform up to a level 20s. I do it while talking on a cell phone eatting frosted mini wheats. I don't get carried. I know how to beat AI just fine. I've carried level 20s in public games on level 1 plenty time to know. Now I get overwhelmed thats a different story, but I've been playing gold since the demo. (minus 2~3 bs runs with friends)steverw1975 wrote...

The game is about weapon levels and playing as a team. You know the difference between 500 sheilds and 700 sheilds? Nothing when an atlus or prime is shooting at you. They're weapons do more damage than you can take as a level 1~20 either way, unless your a krogan-sentinel.
