Yes fight a hopeless battle and snatch defeat out of the jaws of victory just to satisfy your own self righteous ego trip!  That makes so much more sense!

Or destroy the Catalyst and put an end to it's ridiculous agenda right there.
Who says the Reapers will even continue to fight once the maniac controlling them is removed? Those that do would be dispatched by our war assets.

Hackett is an alliance admiral and veteran with several decades of military experience and knowledge.  There is a reason he is coordinating all of the allied forces.  The dude knows what he is doing.  He knows war and he is a very practical man.  He knows what is realistic and he knows that chest pounding idealism won't defeat the reapers.

He sacrificed an entire fleet to save his own hide, meanwhile the first fleet managed to get out of Sol on it's own and losing half it's forces. He botched the defence of Arcturus while Coronati was shooting down Sovereigns, he had a fleet orbiting Earth for no damn reason (that fleet was entirely destroyed, surprise!), he had 2 fleets in the colonies for no reason even though Alliance military doctrine is all about massed defence.

He's a practical man? He chose to rely on a deus ex machina from the past rather than actually fight a war.

How is the Crucible a deus ex Machina? the fleet was orbiting earth because, surprise, it's where humanity comes from. The last reaper anyone face destroyed 8 cruisers, a whole army of them attacked earth, there was no chance in hell they would have had any success.

If you're not a proponent conventional victory, then the Crucible is a DEM/MacGuffin.

Deus Ex Machina - A contrived plot device the presents a solution to a previously seemingly impossible problem.

MacGuffin - A plot device that the protaganist/antagonist pursues with little explanation or irrational reason.

Hackett: Shepard, there's no way we can beat the Reapers conventionally. (Of course, Hackett and his fleets just got caught with their pants down, and this was in the beginning of the war when there was no intelligence on the Reapers or insight on how to beat them. This is why I am skeptical of this statement).

Liara: Shepard, I just happened to find the blue prints for a Prothean weapon in the mars archive. One that no one else did in the past 30 years, I found it because I was looking extra hard. We have no clue what the **** it does, but maybe it can beat the Reapers!

Nice of you to contribute. Derailing a thread requires the participation of two sides. Next time don't acknowledge the 'haters'.

Funny because he was the one who started this current debate about the reject ending, and before that he was trying to derail the thread into America vs. the world.

So yeah.

Indeed, but defending homeworlds is why we were always going to lose the war anyway.

And the only way to the Charon relay is through Arcturus, puting all the fleets there would have been a better idea.

So it's neither; as the Crucible isn't contrived, Shepard doesn't pursue it hackett does, the reason isn't irrationl, unless you find stopping the reapers irrational. It took liara 6 months to find, the prothean expert with access to unlimted resources. It's no where near as bad as Vigil, a real deus ex machina

Leviathan has the potential to be a decent DLC if they aren't doing it to make up for the endings fiasco.

Whether I hated the ending options we got or not the bottom line is Hudson and co. stated numerous times we'd be able to conclude our Shepard's journey on our own terms... that never happened. We got shoe horned into their Deux ex Machina endings and that's fact.

I'm not as upset over it as most.. but those who defend the current forced endings as if Hudson/Bioware never stated the opposite was possible (several times actually) are being a bit naive.

This is also fantastically ironic, as is what I'm writing right now.

This thread either needs to get back on track or die.

Get over yourselves and get lives. It's been 5 months.

That was unnecessarily rude. Really, what's your problem?

You really have to ask?  Have you not payed attention to the BSN for the last 5 months?

Have you?  If a large portion of the fan base has legitimate concerns with the ending then who are you to haggle them about their opinion?  It doesn't matter that it has been 5 months.  It doesn't matter if it had been 5 years.  A story is a story no matter the time between its release and now.  Why should their opinion suddenly change?  "Oh it's been 5 months I'll just forgive this company who upset me greatly with their last product and buy their stuff again.  Because you know its not like I'll be disapointed again.  Especially when that company refused to fess up to their mistake and called their mistake 'artistic integrity'."  People still haven't forgiven BP for the OIL spill.  How long ago did that happen?  I can promise you some customers have refused to buy their products after that mishap.

And I am all for an ending where Caspar gets eaten by a Krogan.  *megustaface*

Actualy I was suggesting you go watch an olympic event instead of flaming everybody that likes ME 3 thus derailing the thread like you do.  I'll admit my little comment about my country beating your country was a little trolly but it did expose your latent anti-americanism

And in the faq for the EC, I believe, they used "Artistic vision".

Artistic Vision and Artistic Integirty are two very different concepts, one states that a piece of work cannot be critiscized or changed "becoz iz ART", the former is simply that this is what the writers wanted it the story to be, and we want to keep it in line with what they want.

Why is everyone (ok not everyone, but some) believing IGN? They're the ones who said we could get 16 different endings.
