Too soon for any ME sequel / prequel.
Here's what I see will happen, they will start working on a ME game but keep it quiet. 2-3 years from now, maybe 5, they will announce a Mass Effect "Reboot".

New story, canonical this time, and more action adventure then RPG. Meaning more auto-dialogue then player driven choices so they have a more fuller control of the direction of the game.

New voices, new faces, new story, new beginning and of course, new ending.

My wish:

There will be no more Mass Effect until next gen.

Destory/genophage cured set as cannon...

Happens a thousand years after the war.
New game will be about the Earth's first expedition into space post reaper war. A lot of other species elites where on earth during the final conflict so it isn't limited to just human. (would be interesting to have an orgins type beginning for different races). The ships assignment was to explore and report to earth the new landscape, and begin to broker partnerships, and deals with other worlds.

Galaxy in a full scale krogan rebellion/takeover (the Krogan's were the first to rebuild due to over-populace) and without Wrex a lynch pin for peace (though even he was going to ask for new planets and take be force if not given) war was their favorite option. With a mixed crew every home world discovered leads to more and more divided opinions.

A sequel could easily be set in the distant future and all the ME3 choices could be valid.
It would be a bit of a cheat, but the Geth could be wiped out either by Shep, or by some war added as a back story, and other species wiped out such as Krogan or Quarian could have survived in small pockets.
Imagine a story where your character (preferably not human) finds an ancient AI which just happens to contain the soul of Shepherd. Could be really interesting.

Wouldn't mind a game based off of Mass Effect Revelation.

I'd play a Mass Effect: Deception game as Kai Leng.

I posted this elsewhere and was called a idiot. Here goes.

How to proceed with the mass effect series:

With the very divergent endings at the end of mass effect 3, people may be left wondering how it will be possible to continue the series without disregarding some of the endings and making one the canon ending. There is, however a way Bioware could pull it off, which I thought of at two in the morning and immediately told myself that I was brilliant and should be in charge of video games everywhere.
The basic outline of my idea is that Bioware could release several different games.
You have likely heard of the rumoured Mass Effect RTS. They could make this game as having the "Control" ending be canon. The player would play as god-Shepard and defend "the many" (as Spock would say) from increasingly large threats, some of which come from within the galaxy, and some threats from other galaxies, universes, or if they're feeling tricky, times. There could also be choices along the way where god-Shepard either stays in line with his or her goal as stated in the control ending, or if he/she begins to corrupt with power, kind of like how the plot of the Infamous series was described to me.
For the destroy ending, this would obviously lead into Mass Effect 4 (which I would buy, as I'm sure most of you would), especially with Shepard alive (if you do it right). There have been many possible plots suggested for such a game. That being said, I would personally prefer a more open adventure with really cool and plentiful sidequests and dialogue choices. The main plot would still loom overhead, but it would work more like Skyrim or Oblivion, but in space.
Of course, another possibility for Mass Effect 4 is that EA gets their FPS and hardcore RPG fans will have to play one of the other games I'm proposing, such as something like Mass Effect: Reloaded (working title, feel free to offer suggestions), which takes place after the refuse ending and after the reaping takes its course. This could have potential for meeting lots of new races, which is cool. Possibly, the Raloi and Yahg could be the dominant species (I doubt this however, because the Reapers will probably reap them after the more advanced races are no longer a threat). Also, if they need to include a human variety, they could either go all Javik on us and go into stasis for a while, or they could re-evolve from primates. This game would follow the quest of the protagonist (maybe of any race, but probably just human). During the course of the game(s) the protagonist follows clues left by Shepard and slowly pieces together Liara's vlog, in order to stop the Reapers. It would be all nostalgic to do something like find a data pad in some ruins containing an email from some random Salarian telling his family about Commander Shepard, who found their mating history and how grateful he was. You know, little things. In the end, we'd get our all out conventional victory - as long as we do the things right, find all the clues and put them together properly.
This could also be the FPS. It would follow the same story idea, but without exploration and choices.
This leaves us with Synthesis, which would become an MMORPG or something.
Bioware has several studios. The Edmonton studio can make the RPG one, Bioware Austin would make the MMO one (they made SWTOR, right?), Montreal would make the FPS, and Bioware LA would make the RTS. Also, Drew Karpyshyn and Patrick Weekes would come up with the main ideas for all the plots (mine are stupid; maybe any or all of the games can include Dark Energy?) and oversee all the writing on the games, but invest most of their time on the super cereal hardcore RPG one. Mac Walters can write the FPS. To be fair, he does deserve some credit where it's due. He is great at one liners and autodiologue.

TL;DR:
Make 4 different types of ME games, one based on each ending.
Control: RTS
Destroy: RPG or maybe FPS
Refuse: FPS or maybe RPG
Synthesis: MMORPG for some reason.
Conclusion: Mac Walters roast.

That's a pretty crazy idea and i doubt Bioware will do it. But i do respect you for sharing your idea's and no giving a damn if people like it or not. But no, i wouldn't want this at all.

They burned down the universe on purpose.

It made the writers happy.  Kinda like the Joker in the Dark Knight movie - some people just want to watch the world burn.

Exactly.  But if we're lucky, they'll keep Meer, and start with a prequel so we get MORE SHEPARD this time.

Synthesis could be canon as apparently the Catalyst thinks it's...I forget err..something good. So ME4 set way off in the future when all life has attained Synthesis could work. The weapons and powers would be interesting..new races too..and the Reapers might make an appearance as well.
But I think BW want prequels/relaunches for next gen consoles? If more ME games are made they will be at least 3 years away if not longer.

It's hard to see BioWare going that direction with ME. First, remaking three games would take up a huge amount of time that could otherwise go to new projects. Second, involved stories heavily influenced by player choice are their strong point, so it wouldn't make sense to abandon that for a more generic shooter-type game. And third, of course, fans would be even more outraged than they were this time around, seeing their "headcanon" from the original get steamrolled. Just not worth it.

A prequel seems like the most likely way to go for the next game in the ME universe. There are plenty of events and places we've already seen mentioned that could be the basis for a new game. I doubt we'll see a Shepard backstory prequel - based on past history I'm 99% sure there'll be a new protagonist and a setting fairly removed in time from the original trilogy.

I can also see a sequel happening, probably picking up some time after one of the ME3 endings. It would appear to "canonize" one of the endings, but that could be justified. It would be the same deal as ME3 only recognizing ME2 endings where Shepard lived: just one possible branch of the story that they've chosen to explore further. Again, though, most probably no appearances of Shepard & co.

it should just end now. no stupid prequel or anything of that nature. the only thing that could be cool is an indirect sequel. taking place 50 to 100 years after the events of the trilogy

Fighter pilot. ME3 goes way out of its way to mention fighters at any opportunity for them to not be at least planning something fighter related. A pilot is the one unique war asset you actually get to see in the final battle.
I'd like to see a game that lets you import your ME3 saves, but features a new player character and takes place during the reaper invasion

Whatever they may come up with is fine... It could be before, parallel or after. I don't really care!

But, if it could be possible, I would like to be able, not only to choose the sex of my character but to choose the race as well. I really don't mind if the main character doesn't have voice... As long as the choice wheel is there and that the consequences of my actions have real meaning!

As for a new trilogy, I would like it to be more grim. I want more difficult choices that result in loss of squadmates, betrayal, heart breaking decisions, war and even the destruction of civilizations and planets. Sometimes, those choice will NOT have a better side... It will be one or the other and we'll have to deal with it!!

I want the romance to be earned and not just given. For instance, affinities, paragon or renegade status, major story decisions, faithfullness to have real consequences with how squadmates or NPCs react towards you. Will you be friends, will you be lovers, will you be soul-mates, will you be rivals or will you become enemies. Stuff like that...

If they plan a new trilogy, I don't mind to be constraint for the first 2 games, but the last game of the trilogy, they should go nuts!!! They should make the story branch up in more than 10 different directions. Have totally different endings!! Surprise us with DLCs that bring in even more endings... They need to go wild and give us the opportunity to do whatever we want and send the story in whatever direction we like!

I don't think there will ever be anything taking place after ME3, because the decisions made in that game can include entire species being wiped out. Also, Synthesis. Disgusting.

One can say that then BioWare can produce a game drastically different depending on what choices Shepard made in the trilogy, but look at the choices that were made useless in ME3:

- Rachni live/die
- Anderson/Udina on council
- Agree/Disagree with Cerberus

I doubt that there will ever be a game in the Mass Effect universe taking place after the events of the trilogy.

They can always pull something like Deus Ex:

"Shepard, while trying to take CONTROL over the catalyst for it to end the war by attempting SYNTHESIZING a new life framework, he/she failed as the crucible began to overload and finally Self-DESTRUCT along with every synthetic being in its rage (which could be a couple of solar systems)"

Done, there you go: a mix of the 3 endings that could be used as a base for a Mass Effect 4 game.

Even if that sound ridiculous to some people, don't forget that many...MANY people would buy an ME4 game and EA will do anything to earn moar moneys.
