Sigrun is one of my favorite DA companions, dwarf or not.

Um Midget happens to be a very derogatory term.

Yes because clearly the only purpose of female dwarves is romance

Many of us would just like to see that dwarves have a female variety, whether or not they are companions.

Agreed. It was ridiuclous to only see male dwarves wandering around Hightown.

I don't understand why David's so against dwarf romances. Okay, he doesn't like Dwarves, that's fine, but a lot of people do, especially if the dwarve's someone like Varric. Why bar people from having romances with them because of your own dislike?

Au, I'm sorry melca, I honestly didn't know it had become an offensive term, I'll alter my post

I'd love to discuss my feeling on the subject but erm I better just mosey on out of this thread, I don't think I'm welcome anymore

Gimli: It's true you don't see many dwarf women. And in fact, they are so alike in voice and appearance, that they are often mistaken for dwarf men.
Aragorn: [whispering] It's the beards.
Gimli: And this in turn has given rise to the belief that there are no dwarf women, and that dwarves just spring out of holes in the ground!
[Eowyn laughs]
Gimli: Which is, of course, ridiculous.

Thank you. I have a great uncle who is a dwarf and he was a very successful dentist for 30 years before retiring.
Midget has not been used among little people for years.

Nice LotR quote, and it relates well to the absence of dwarven women in Kirkwall. The Hierophant wrote...

How is Varric supposed to get cute dwarven serving girls in the Hanged Man if Kirkwall only has dwarven men?

There was no reason for Bioware not to have one single female dwarf in DA2. Only reason was good old fashion lazyness. They really need to stop ignoring females that aren't human. The ME series was full of this as well.

Seeing Sigrun again would have made DA2 more enjoyable imo. I can already imagine the banter between Merrill, Varric, and her.Arthur Cousland wrote...

As far as romances are concerned. I don't really see what the big deal is about romancing a character who happens to be a dwarf. Varric had a charming and warm personality, plus he had a sense of humor and compared to Fenris and Anders, would have been a better choice for some of my Hawke characters. Same with Sigrun (if romances had been possible in Awakening). If the character is interesting then what does it matter if they're a dwarf, elf, kossith, or human.
And just to be clear, this not me saying every single follower that is in the game needs to be a romance, I'm simply saying why should a character's race be a deterrent to making a character a LI.

Considering they're sticking with iconic armor and that increases their workload twice as much by making armor look unique on everyone, a dwarf PC would triple the work. Simply because they're shorter and the 3D models would have to be built specifically for them. On a elf/human, you can allow them to use a similar body structure. That reason alone means we won't get to play as one. Animations are another issue. Human/elf can share animations. Don't see Bioware devoting resources to this area. This is just my opinion of course.
I'd love to have one as a companion. Don't really care if they're female or male. Varric was one of the best characters in DA2.

He did, but it's not really relevant to this topic. The OP is not mourning the lack of Dwarf romances. He's mourning the lack of Dwarf females at all in DA2. They were likely left out due to time/resource cutting.

Yeah I really miss dwarf women! DA:O was one of the few fantasy games I've played where there actually were dwarf women and they made the DA dwarves stand out from other dwarves, especially since the women were just as capable as the men.
Exactly. Other races like the Qunari or Salarians etc in Mass Effect were written with a lore based excuse why there were no wonen shown. DA Dwarves had no such excuse.

I totally agree - there were plenty of female surface dwarves in DA:O, so why no female dwarves in Kirkwall?
And although there is a valid reason why we haven't seen any female Qunari so far, it would be so awesome to see some in the next game!

Mass Effect series
-Krogan females never leave their camps
-Salarian females never leave their homeworld
-Turian females should have been numerous, but never apeared
-never heard about or saw female Drell, Batarians, Volus etc
Dragon Age series
-Qunari females never leave their island
-No female Darkspawn, only Broodmothers
-Dwarf females MIA in DA2 for no real reason

I think the real reason is resources. That is, the more different models shown on the screen, the more resources are required by the game. Not sure if this is entirely accurate though.
