Anyone else really pissed about ME3, but still holding out cautiously for DA3?

I have already made the decision to never buy another EA product again (with the above exception) until I can once again maintain secondary belief in ME's universe (A tolkien theory regarding internal lore/laws continuity and consistency).

However, as Indicated by my thread title, I am STILL looking out for DA3 news, because of one thing: The DA team seem to have been very active and as open as they can (given the PR constraints the company must be under) in these forums.

So far, I'm looking at buying DA3 once it is on sale, once fans have reviewed it favorably and once I know the plot holes aren't going to be massive (not as bigger problem for a fantasy, but still a hurdle).

Is anyone else really dissapointed and disheartened with ME3 but still holding out a ray of hope for DA3 due to how mature everyone seems to be regarding DA2's flaws and fixing them? (I personally really love DA2 anyway though, so that might be a difference there).

There's one sound strategy - wait a few weeks after release, then ask friends, watch youtube, and look for Metacritic user reviews. Then, make a decision.
Do not look for popular site reviews - they are all bought and will spawn "ZOMG BEST GAME EVAR!!!111oneone" on daily basis.

This is probably the way i will go about; given that i haven't been deterred by the news released by Bioware prior to release. Two sites i still trust to give me good reviews and analysis are rock paper shotgun and forbes. Erik Kain and Paul Tassi do amazing jobs at forbes.

I'm not interested in sci-fi, so I never played ME. But I was "pissed" about DA II because it was/is such a low quality rpg compared to Origins.
That said, I'm waiting for news on DA III, but this time it's definitly no pre-order for me. I don't want to make a mistake twice.

DA3 is Bioware's last chance to keep my business. If DA3 isn't what ME2 or DAO was I am walking away from Bioware.

The new ME3 endings salvaged enough for me to be satisfied, even though they werent fantastic (and I still didn't get to see Shepard reunited with his/her crew/LI.)

Regarding DA3, I think the DA team recognise what needs to be improved upon based on the fans response to DA2... not to mention baring witness to the ME3 ending uproar, which has probably given them some food for thought. Based on their new "show not tell" approach for "the next big thing", and the concepts/hypotheticals they've given us so far, it certainly looks like they're on the right track.

Of course, I'm desperate to hear more details about DA3, but I can understand why they're being so tight lipped about everything. The worst thing that could happen would be another script/content leak in the future, or a sh!t ton of early concept drafts that don't make the cut in-game.

These ones are unreliable too. You'll only find a good few ones. The rest will be 10's 0's 1-3's and nitpicky 6's who like to gag all day with awesome purple prose.

Nope. I loved ME3. DA2 is better than a lot of people claim. It's certainly not "horrible" like some people say, IMO. DA2 is ok by itself, just not better than DA:O.

But yes, DA2 overall was a disappointment to me I'd say. This time around I'm going to pay attention to trailers and marketing. Last time I went on a blackout. That caused me to buy the game day 1 expecting more DA:O and was kinda shocked at how different it was. I never thought Bioware would change the formula up that much considering how successful DA:O was.

I'm definitely going to see what I'm buying this time around. Can't imagine it will be worse than DA2. Bioware seems to do a great job when they're motivated and I think they know DA3 will decide if this franchise continues. That will motivate them to make a better game.

ME3 provided its share of disappointment, along with an ending fit only for going out of business, but I really don't have any caution when it comes to the DA team.

They still know how to make the fun, and I expect good things from them.

I loved DA2, enjoyed ME3, so can't wait til DA3.

But really I can wait for DA3. I'd like them to take all the time the need to finish it right. Still a definate pre-order.

This cutlass agrees with the above cutlass.

Loved DA2 and crazy excited for DA3.

Nope, not at all. Get over it already. I think both games can be better if they can get the sh*t away from the story where this ultimate evil super power thing is coming to kill all lifeform story. For all the political and social context both games have, their main story is always stuck with uninteresting supervillian.

Aside from the fact that one's a fantasy setting while the other's a space age sci-fi and the fact that one's a third-person shooter, there's really not much difference. Both are good. "Shooter" does not equal "gimmick". BioWare strongly believes in the team’s artistic vision for the end of this arc of the Mass Effect franchise. The extended cut DLC expanded on the existing endings.

LOL, looks like no one won after all. Recommence ending rage. ;P

I was and still am pretty pissed by ME3. I started playing DA2 expecting to hate it and put Bioware out of my system, but the game caught me by surprise. I loved the rags to riches story and the nunaced characters and theme. Sure there were plenty of signs the game was rushed, like the ever repeating dungeons but overall I was pretty happy with it. As a matter of fact I - sacrilege - even prefer DA2 over DAO!!

I'm pretty psyched about DA3. Bioware knows it is on thin ice with fans and stock market, EA has lost 50% of it's stock value in just a few months. I believe all that drama with ME3 will make them realize that spitting on the face of old fans just to try to gain multiplayer fans didn't work as planned.. And they will go back to what made them loved by rpg gamers. At least I hope so.

I was disappointed enough with DA2 to not buy ME3. So in that sense DA2 saved me from buying ME3? :P That's the only positive thing I can say about DA2. I'll be watching curiously to see how DA3 is received, but at this point will likely not be buying it.

I'm more forgiving of the Dragon Age team than I am the Mass Effect team, so I will still be buying Dragon Age 3. Dragon Age 2 was an average game in my opinion, but at least it was consistent and had no negative impact on Origins. They also seem to acknowledge the major flaws it had, and have outright stated that they will do those things better this time.

It certainly wasn't a Mass Effect 3, whose abysmal ending made it impossible for me to ever take any of the Mass Effect games seriously again.

I gave up on ME serie because DA2 and now afterwards I know I did the right decision of not buying ME3. I will just wait what comes of DA series and decide after I see what other people think of it. Like Cultist said.

I had the advantage of coming to the DA franchise very late, late enough to hear about the disappointment that was DA2, and the shining gem that was Origins.

So I went into both with the appropriate expectations. Origins was excellent and something I thoroughly enjoyed, while DA2 was just as bad as I had been led to believe (bad being a subjective word for me). I figure if I expect nothing great from DA3 then there'll be no hurt (unlike ME3... *sigh*)... that's a yes, I suppose?

At the end of the day however they are professional game producers and are the ones being paid to make these things, not me, a single little fan sitting in front of her computer screen armed with a keyboard.

You guys are nuts Me3 was perfect and Da2 was revolutionary. Da3 will be awesome but I will not buy it da 1 also.  Da2 was a dissapointment for me at first but after many playthroughs I have developed a bond with it. It's sometimes like when I'm playing origins and I am so bored of the game but than I countnue in Da2 and get bored of it too but I have to pass a the game perfecty and store my save for Da3. I play for the story mostly sometimes but the combat is very entrhralling for me too sometimes, I would considers my self mostly a player who likes to kill things with swords and stuff from the beggining since playing games. But since I got in to rpgs that had it I got critical on the plot's too. Basically I'm just high and ****.

I am hopeful but cautious. DA2 was disappointing and ME3 was... ME3. But it did get better after the EC, that's for sure.

I will be waiting for a demo and forum reviews before I buy another Bioware game. I've been burned twice now. I'm hoping that DA3 will take some of the improvements from DA2 and add them to what made DAO so awesome.

I'm still holding out hope on DA3 just because the devs actually seem to take our input into the making of it. DA2 split the fanbase a lot and so they listened and are adjusting. ME3 the ending was met with an outpouring of people disliking it even more then DA2 it seems yet they just come out and claim artistic integrity and thats the end. I'll never buy anything ME related again unless it has AMAZING word of mouth but I'm cautiously optimistic of DA3.
