Anyone else really pissed about ME3, but still holding out cautiously for DA3?

Thanks to EA/Lucas Arts and Bioware for butchering that one with along SWG....
I really have low standarts about Da3(maybe the lowest till now) becuse they clearly stated they are going to same route. Im just expecting a polished Da2.

The reason I'm cautious for DA 3 has nothing to do with ME 3 but due to BioWare's cinematic action game direction. It's appear to me they seem to be underestimate the importance of roleplaying in favor of interactive cinematic action game. I have nothing against cinematic cutscenes. As a matter of fact, I do enjoy cinematic cutscenes. I even spend years making my own cinematic cutscenes for my custom made campaign with DAO's toolset and TES construction kit.
However, DA 2 and ME 2 overuse and misused cinematic cutscenes to the point I can't roleplay my character due to personality/behaviour clash between my headcanon's character and Bioware's cinematic cutscenes Hawke and Sheppard. This is one of the reason why I greatly prefer blank slate character over preset characters. I hate preset emotions and responsive preset character. They're not human but AI that has no identity as a unique person. I enjoy individuality because that's what we are. I rather have weak story just to play unique character than playing responsive preset character with strong narrative that can never be mine and can never be bitter or withdrawn or neutral chaotic etc.. But I don't expect much for DA 3. I only hope BioWare will pay more attention to player and character agency through choices and consequences. Else I will not buy DA 3 and move on to other RPG developers.

Look at the ME forums.. Yup still pretty pissed off fanbase there.
I'm one of them. Pretty much gave up on ME. Now hoping DA3 is a pleasant surprise.

From ME1 to ME2 we had companion inventory management take away, a stripped down skill system and stripped down exploration. From ME2 to ME3 we had an even more simplified skill system, even less exploration with smaller areas and a "walk by" side quest system which removed much of the engrossing conversations of the first two titles. What happened to actually having to enter into a conversation with someone to find out what they needed assistance with?
From DAO to DA2 we lost the skill system and crafting system entirely. The companion inventory management system was stripped down significantly. We were even restricted with who we could give a bow to! Conversations with companions were limited to their place of residence. Exploration was minimized due to fewer and smaller areas. Not too mention many of these areas were indentical (recycled dungeons). DAO companions felt like real people given the complex and engrossing conversations you could have with them. And you could have these conversations anywhere with them. You even had the ability fo ****** them off to the point that they would abandon you. Very real. DA2 companions were nothing more than pawns or tools of war. They lack the depth of the compnaions from DAO due to the limitations on where you could speak with them and also the lackluster dialog itself.
Although very doubtful, I am hoping that Bioware (of rather, EA) make the decision to take a step back and reimplement all of those elements that they've taken away. To make sure that they create another epic RPG. If this series continues the path of the ME series then I'm afraid I will have to look elsewhere for my gaming needs. It's very sad.

Considering how terribly BioWare handled that situation, not surprising. Of course DA2 was way worse than ME3's ending, so I feel totally justified still holding that grudge.
DA3 is on a strict probation with me, as are all future BioWare products. They have to prove that they're serious about rebuilding their tarnished reputation. And that's going to take hard work and plenty of time.

I have never played Mass Effects, so I can't comment on that one. But I do however don't see how DAII is a bad game... It might not be as epic as Origins, but it's a great fantasy RPG. I'm very excited about DAIII and don't know how I'll be able to wait 2 years.
Agreed. I played DA2 after playing ME3 and DAO and went in fully expecting it to be a fail as bad as ME3. To my surprise I loved the story, the nuanced complex characters and the time span. I even prefer DA2 over DAO. Sure DAO was a masterpiece but it is just a well done take on the Lord of The Rings saga: gather companions to defeat ultimate evil. Been there, done that. DA2 is much more creative and nuanced. I loved how there was no pure evil or pure good npc. well perhaps Bethany mage was pure good
Alas, DA2 was done in a hurry so the reused dungeons, no companion inventory, etc.. took out a lot of quality from it. The reused dungeons wouldn't have been as bad if the dungeon maps were made properly. As it was, to see entire areas on map that were not accessible while you were in the dungeon drove me bonkers. If Bioware had at least done the maps right people would not have hated the recycled dungeons so much.
I really hope ME3 was a watershed event for Bioware and EA and they pull back and avoid the same mistakes on DA3. It will be a shame to see such a talented group of people get corrupted and destoyed by corporate profiteering.

All in all, the merger with EA has been a huge blesssing, it has allowed Bioware to gain a lot of mainstream gamers with their huge marketing budget, and most of the creative decisions made have been sound. I'm still a huge fan.

Based on their new "show not tell" approach for "the next big thing", and the concepts/hypotheticals they've given us so far, it certainly looks like they're on the right track.
Or....it could be they are on the same track and don't want all the pre-criticism for doing so.

Nope. It was kind of like the disappointment of a finding out a girl you liked for awhile was not the girl for you and you're better off without her.

99% of the time, I end posts with that emoticon. I try to end on an upbeat note.
And, why would I ever let a bunch of internet... people... tell me how to feel about something I loved?
Have a great day!

If Dragon Age 3 was to have no game pad support, I doubt it would effect my decision to buy the game, because the combat in the Dragon Age series does not require a lot of quick movement (even tho I would prefer it did)
