If you brokering peace between the two races was an impossibility, who would you side with. Also, please indicate if you romanced Tali in either ME2 or ME3.

I did not romance Tali and I would save the Geth for a three main reasons.

Edit:

1.) The Quarians tried to kill me, and decided to go to war even after I told them not to. If they want to die, it is their own damn fault.

2.) 'The Geth only acted in self-defense. Do we deserve death?'

3.) The fact that the outcome of peace is solely dependant on the Quarians ceasing fire.

I'd blow up the geth. My canon Shep is a renegade and still harbors resentment for all the things the geth did in ME1 (doesn't trust the heretic story after Legion lies). Plus they run to the reapers when attacked so they can't be trusted again.

I find it hard to believe that out of these 16 people that would save the quarians, only two of them romanced Tali.

Also, I'd side with the Quarians.

Quarians. They are reliable and never tried to kill me (except for Han Gerrel, that bastard). Geth are manipulators and siding with Reapers comes very easily to them. Legion is trustworthy but it is hard to deny he is also unique and clearly different from the other Geth.

(never romanced Tali)

I found that while I loved the Geth and Legion in ME1 and ME2, how unique they and how they had developed their own moral code, made them very original and great characters. though in ME3 they are simply robots, who have no complexity who exist only to create drama. I felt no connection and didn't care if they lived or died.

OP - I'd consider siding with the geth to be very renegade, you condeming your own allies to extinction.

I agree with your disagreement.

If I had to save one it'd definitely be the Geth. It was like this in my first playthrough where I failed to broker peace. Not because its a paragon option or something, I'd agree more with your second and third point OP. They have always been the agressors, and chose such a perfect time to mount an assault. My Shepard was done saving them.

Of the seven Shepards I've created so far, only one romanced Tali, but all of them would side with the quarians over the geth.

Romanced tali, would save Geth. Quarians are largely the architects of their own destruction.

I did not romance Tali and I would save the Geth for a three main reasons.

1.) It is the paragon option. My canon Shep is a Paragade.

2.) 'The Geth only acted in self-defense. Do we deserve death?'

3.) The fact that the outcome of peace is solely dependant on the Quarians ceasing fire.

If there is one thing about the ME universe, its that there is no single race or person that is wholly and completely good or bad. It would also be a mistake to believe the Geth are otherwise.

The Salarians and Quarians were made to look bad, yes, and in the grand scheme of things one could say they were wrong. However, the Salarians developed the Genophage because the Krogan were dropping asteroids on council planets. The Quarians tried to deactivate all Geth because they were probably scared out of their wits that they had accidentally created programs that had minds of their own. How would you feel if your computer suddenly started talking back to you? And lets not forget that the "Heretic" Geth went to Sovereign and started attacking organics of their own free will and the "True" Geth had no problem with them leaving whatsoever until it affected them.

The Quarians (remembering this a completely different generation of Quarians) probably attacked the Geth again out of a mixture of fear of the Reapers coming for them (they are sitting ducks with their entire race on ships), thirst for revenge (the vast majority of Quarians only know that the Geth killed their ancestors), a need for a Homeworld and out of having a decent chance for victory (thanks to Daro'Xen's technological advancements).

Does this mean that the actions of either the Salarians or Quarians have to be condoned? Absolutely not, but nothing is as ever as simple as good and evil in ME. Nor is this decision any different.

Geth. I agree with all your points. The whole Rannoch situation is the result of the Quarians attacking, they are the aggressors.

How about Miranda being carried away by the seeker swarms in ME2?

And the game disagrees with you. Saving the Quarians isn't the top right option, and it doesn't give you paragon points.
