On my laptop trackpad/mouse, right mouse key and left mouse key cannot be pressed simultaneously. This is a major problem in the "planet exploration/miing" screen, which requires me hold down the right key to scan and then prees the left key while stiil holding down the right, in order to fire a probe. If anyone has any idea on how to fix this it would be great.

If you really want to use the trackpad,
there is a coalesced.ini hack that changes the key bindings at a very
low level. It basically assigns a keystroke to start scanning another
keystroke to stop it.
Ready for some modding? Good :-)
- backup your user data following this advice (that site contains some useful info on modding as well).
- backup the original coalesced.ini file in \\Mass Effect 2\\BioGame\\Config\\PC\\Cooked\\
- download, extract and start this tool. It has it's own backup mechanism, but still: make a manual backup.
-
find the section BIOInput and the subsection
[SFXGame.SFXGameModeOrbital] where all the settings for planet scanning
are listed
- The one you want to change is either Bindings=( Name="RightMouseButton", Command="Shared_GalaxyScan" ) or Bindings=( Name="LeftMouseButton", Command="Shared_GalaxyProbe" ). You have to change at least one of the Name="..." items to any letter or button on the keyboard, (SpaceBar) for example.
- Restart the game :-)

Still, how the hell did you manage to play a shooter on a trackpad? Awesome! [smilie]http://social.bioware.com/images/forum/emoticons/w00t.png[/smilie]

Well, I hate to state the obvious but how about a cheapo USB mouse? As above, well done for managing without one but the game specs do say mouse required and I guess the planet scanning thing is part of the reason why. Alternatively you could cheat and use Gibbed to give yourself all the resources you'll ever need and skip most of the planet scanning/mining business. Trouble is I think you still need to launch probes for some of the side missions so a mouse may still be your best bet.
