I HATE THAT! If I'd wanted a fps, I would have bought an fps, not an rpg!!! Damn "mini-game"! You can't avoid it, you can't bypass it, you can just die. It's stupid!
Ok, the question is: I thought I'd had to do with that only once, leavign Taris. It was a pain in the you-know-where. After 8 or 9 times, I've managed to pass. Then I leave Dantooine, discover the girl hidding in the ship and decide to come back again to Dantooine to bring her back home and... without even a communication, I've found myself in the "mini-game" scenario AGAIN. Why? Please, tell me it's a bug and that I don't have to fight those things each time I travel!
Moreover, is there a way to demolish those damned things?

Every time you travel, there is a chance you'll encounter these fighters. This chance increases as you progress with the main quest, meaning later on you are quite likely to encounter them. Make save just before you click the galaxy map, and if you encounter them reload. There are exactly three mandatory instances of that minigame (one of those being when you leave Taris, can't really tell the other two without spoilers).

It is not that bad once you learn their flying pattern. Start firing the moment you get control of the guns. The fighters are all clustered in the beginning and with some luck and practice you can take out two or three when they first approach you. Depending on your mouse sensitivity, it may be faster to do big (such as 180 degree) turns with the arrow keys instead of the mouse.

In fact, that's the problem: it seems that my mouse (even if its in the max possible sensitivity) simply sleeps! Yesterday I've also discovered that the other swoop races (I am on Tatooine now. The Taris race went incredibly well: I've done 27 at my first attempt) are far tougher than the first one, so after reloading 5 or 6 times, I simply got discouraged and said "I'll try another day" :-( I HATE those stupid mini-games!!!

But the way, since I still have the problem that I can't see the movies in-game, can you please tell me what is seen in the dream on Tatooine? Bastila has a dialogue-option to show me the dream again, but of course it doesn't work (I just see an empty screen). If you tell me what I am supposed to see, I can go in the movie folder and try to find the movie on my own.
Thanks! :-)

You are referring to the star map vision. You get one for every planet when you first arrive. Each shows you a vision of that planet's star map.

Tatooine star map: 0a
Manaan star map: 0b
Kashyyyk star map: 0c
Korriban star map: 0d

Some other useful videos

Vision you get in the beginning when waking up on Taris: 02
Arrival on Dantooine: 05_2a
Departure from Dantooine: 05_2c
Arrival on Tatooine: 05_3a
Departure from Tatooine: 05_3c
Arrival on Kashyyyk: 05_4a
Departure from Kashyyyk: 05_4c
Arrival on Manaan: 05_5a
Departure from Manaan: 05_5c
Arrival on Korriban: 05_7a
Departure from Korriban: 05_7c

The most plot-critical video in the game is 31a (do not watch this beforehand). Higher numbered videos are all end-game ones.

-

The other swoop races are not mandatory (although they net you a hefty amount of money). Taris race is easy on purpose (as it is plot-critical). Manaan race is by far the most difficult.

And don't forget to pick up another party member while on Tatooine.

O.O THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! That's extremely useful!

I know the other races are not mandatory, but on Tatooine, Nico can be persuaded not to sign the contract with the Hutt only if you win 3 races :-(
I've already found a new party member... it's extremely funny when he says something like "Translation: the chief here says we have to be careful not to disturb his people, or they will attack us. Not that this would be a problem. Shall I attack, master?" :-D

As I said before: swoop races are not mandatory. :)

Nico can be done with persuasion alone.

Edit: I wouldn't worry about persuasion. With the zillion Sith you'll encounter, those can't be persuaded anyway. :wizard:

:-( the only dialogue option I have is something like
"I will listen to you only if you'd prove you are a good pilot!" "Ok, I have to go."
Maybe I've done something wrong... uff, how I wish those stupid mini-games were not presented at all!

Available convo options depend on your class and/or persuasion level. This might  will get difficult later on when enemies use force powers on your party. Balanced skills in your party in more than recommended.

What is your class anyway?

Vaalyah wrote...

In that case I'd suggest you avoid Manaan swoop races.

I have 8 scoundrel levels and 4 as Jedi Consular. My persuasion is extremely high, plus I've selected the two Force Power that makes me see further option in dialogues... you know "These aren't the droids you're looking for!" :-P

Tip: make sure you party can deal with enemy force powers (such as horror)

Anyway, should you want more video listings, just let me know.

If you have time, I really appreciate a list, it could be very useful also to other people unable to make the game run properly :-)

What do you mean with "deal with enemy force powers"? All our Jedis are developing their own powers, so we should be able to shield also the other party members, I think...
Now we're on Kashyyn, just landed! ^^

There used to be mods which made them easier or actually removed them entirely, but from a quick google search it seems most of the sources are gone now (Sites taken down etc.) But as was said before; by simply clicking rapidly as it begins you can take out nearly all of them, and their positions are on radar, so you can effectively finsish it in under 10 seconds. After learning how to deal with them they just become a minor inconveniance. Thankfully, KotOR 2 only has one of these sequences that I can remember.

What specific issue are you having with the cutscenes? For me they would sometimes cause the game to minimise, but then reopening it got it to play where it left off, but I'm assuming you don't share the same precise issue. Did you get the game from Steam? If not, have you patched it? There may be a solution on Google.

As for the force powers thing, try and get your party to be resiliant against mind affecting powers (such as horror, which can leave you incapacitated for quite a while at times) Although it can be said that a good offense will work just as well, it may be beneficial for you to get such abilities for yourself and open up with them at the start of battles.

And yes, HK-47 is epic :D
If you have a fairly high repair skill (at least 8) then I strongly recommend restoring some of his lost memory for some funny tales :)

Oh, you are so kind! ^^ Thank you very much! So, while I progress in the game, are you going to update the list? :-D Because, in case, I should tell you which is the next planet I'm going to visit! :-P
I'm confused... which is the vision Pc and Bastila had when arriving at the Jedi enclave? I mean, the one the council refers to, when saying that she and I are bond in the Force? I'd thought it was 01f...

@InHuman: I've followed all the steps written here www.lucasforums.com/showthread.php?t=194296 and here Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic | Widescreen Gaming Forum ... 3 times. At first, KOTOR1 was running and KOTOR2 wasn't. Then, after a gpu-driver update, KOTOR2 runs while and KOTOR1 doesn't. Or better, after disabling the video and removing the widescreen patch, it runs perfectly... with a freeze every now and then (and I have to abruptly restart the computer from the hardware button. But 99% of times, the game runs smoothly).
I can't understand why LucasArts doesn't provide a patch for the new OSs!

My PC has 16 points in repair skill, so just another level and I'll be able to know the whole story of HK! ^^ (even if I'm a bit worried he could find a way to kill me too -_-' )

As I recall you get 01f when you arrive on Dantooine.

Of the vids 05_8a thru 05_9 and 33 onwards occur on the final location. 23a thru 26b occur on Manaan, and 17 and 17a occur when you have four Star Maps (including Dantooine). I can update the list later.

You won't get his whole story until later (you'll know when it happens).

Thank you SO much! I still don't know where to go after Kashyyk (nor how long it would take the whole "save the Wookiee" thing!). :-D

I've read around that you need a lot of repair skill points to upgrade HK and that each time you upgrade a piece of his memory, he tells you a new part of the story (so far, it has worked in this way...)

Either Manaan or Korriban, flip a coin :D Of course, if you have the companion quests, do those as well.

True, but you won't be able to unlock the final part of his story that way.

Oh, I'm so sorry! I was curious to follow the path of the previously-dead-masters :-P

By the way, I should open a thread about "who's in your favourite party". I still choose my companions more on how I enjoy their presence than on their effective usefulness! (what can I say... I can't stand Bastila -_-' )

You will find out his complete story later and you don't even need any skills to get the final part.

:-( too late. I've just levelled up and put a point in "repair skill".
Question: since I've just met some Sith that has operated mind troubles in my party, how can I contrast their powers?

For Jedi party members you can use Force Resistance line of powers. For others you can use mind-effect immunity items. There are belts and implants for that purpose. Some of the armor upgrades also have that effect.

This is exactly what I meant when talking about countering enemy powers. You'll be dealing with an increasing number of Force using enemies.

This evening I've finally performed some melee with 3 Jedis in my party. Incredible. I don't even have to give attention to the actions: the characters are sending enemies everywhere! Wow, that's incredible!
I've also find some head-things that guarantee mental immunity. I hope they would work!

Good crystal combinations in your lightsaber can work wonders for your damage output. Upari and Solari are the best crystals in the game (not counting Yavin) although you don't have either yet.

Improved energy resistance is also very much recommended.

Actually I have too many crystals and too few lightsabers to use them with :-P My lightsaber has a +6 bonus on melee, but it does few damages...

Upari and Solari will transform your 2-16 damage saber into 7-35 damage one with +6 to attack.

Are you doing the Genoharadan quest by the way? It is the one you get from the Twilek offering the datapad on Tatooine.
