As my machine hardware hasn't changed since April I can only presume that it must be an issue that was introduced through a software update. I've done the usual check to make sure my graphics driver is up to date and made sure the game itself is also up to date. I've also tried reinstalling the game and removing the DLC to check if it was the DLC that was causing the issue and there seems to be no change in the crash frequency, so I presume the DLC is not the cause. Although the problem I'm having doesn't sound like quite the same one in the 'PC crashing issue' in the FAQs I tried using the patched awc.dll and EAcore.dll, but this also seemed to have no effect (for better or worse).
The crashes are not immediate, they generally occur after about half an hour to an hour and typically seem to happen during a dialogue scene (multiplayer is less affected, as might be expected, though I have had a couple of crashes in multiplayer). If the crash is going to result in a blue screen or unrecoverable freeze everything halts pretty much instantly and the sound becomes the standard 'crash buzz', but if it is going to crash to desktop the graphics freeze but the dialogue continues to run for a few seconds. Whether it's an update to the ME3 main game, or possibly the Nvidia drivers or Windows 7 that's causing this I'm not sure, but it's definitely new.
I've also sent this to EA support but thought I'd post it here too to see if anyone has any ideas, any help would be much appreciated.
Basic system information
OS: Windows 7
CPU: AMD Phenom II X6 (NB the ME3 config utility only seems to detect one core, but this has always been the case and didn't seem to cause issues in the past)
GPU: Nvidia GeFore GTX 580
RAM: 8GB
