I hope we won't see a DA:O 2 for at least 2-3 years

I've seen a lot of theorizing and discussing going on about plots for DA:O 2. Most of them involving a certain character.

Well, I just want to state how I prefer to see something alternative first.
We already have DLC's, with more of those being developed. I think those would qualify as "mini content patches".
Then there's the other side, of having a sequel, a DA: O 2.

DLC's squeeze into the content present, while a sequel is basically an entirely new game on its own. Your character wouldn't transfer to a sequel, you'd have to start from scratch in it, while the DLC inserts into the existing storyline, sometimes giving the awkward result of having to reload a save prior to certain accomplishments to experience the DLC with a given character.

I just wonder why nobody is suggesting features they'd like for either one to come in something inbetween those two: expansions. An expansion would be the perfect place to extend the storyline mentioned before. An expansion, unlike a DLC, can take place AFTER the storyline as it exists now. This means that one could follow up that specific plotline properly and chronologically if that plotline is still open. Much more convenient than squeezing it in before certain happenings, but also much more believable than having your character reset to lvl 1 in a sequel to pick up on that plotline.
I'd also a assume, that a proper expansion would be bigger, WAY bigger than a DLC. For size, a proper sequel could be as big as 50-75% of the original game. Maybe even as big as the original game in playtime. It could open up new lands to visit, which would mean new maps, with space to place new DLC's, so the little map of Ferelden won't become too cluttered with bright yellow markers.

Yes, my topic title said I hoped for no DA:O 2 for at least 2-3 years, but with a good mix of expansions and DLC's, DA:O might actually last a bit longer than that even, and not require a sequel for much longer. I'm not saying I'm against a sequel. I'm just saying how there could be much more in this game before having to give it an overhaul into an actual sequel.

We probably won't realistically. Not with Mass Effect 2 and The Old Republic coming out, Bioware's efforts will be concentrated elsewhere

Trust me I can almost guarantee you, you won't be playing the sequel for at least 3 years. Also they might be working on an expansion, though no official word it's still possible.

As stated above Mass Effect 2 and The Old Republic are more important projects now, however the DLC will still be coming.

I hope we don't see it at all. There is nothing in Dragon Age Origins that warrants making another.

If you want sequels then go play FF

Part of me likes coming to a series late so that I don't have to wait in between parts. I can just go from one game to the next until the end. In this case though, I'm glad I didn't wait and I can wait 2-3 years for a sequel. I just hope there will be plenty of quality gaming between then and now.

I say expansions are a great idea. We won't see many (if any) just because smaller DLCs are a lot more feasible and make good money for the time that was spent on them.

Well there is Mass Effect 2 and leveling up a 60 in ME 1 for an undisclosed small bonus when you port over to ME 2. That will tie me down for 2010 for sure. Plus there's a plethora of AAA titles being released Q1 2010 like Bioshock 2, the new Splintercell, Assassin's Creed 2, etc...

... besides the fact that this game is obviously part one in a series, and you have direct control over how the entire world changes?

I mean, come on. If you are going to troll, at least be SMART about it.

hahah what a tool, learn what you are talking about.

Since you cannot finish this game without being a Grey warden even though the end is set up so that, doing that is in fact possible, you have changed nothing.

As far as this goes:

I mean, come on. If you are going to troll, at least be SMART about it.

So my opinion is trolling?

Ok so you are directing that trolling comment to every single person in this thread then for having their opinions, same as me.

How do you not change Ferelden? So many things you can  do change it so completely!! Even the EXTREMELY MINOR quest a chant in the deeps can result in the beginning of a race/religous war

Bioware has 3 completely seperate teams working on ME2, TOR, and DA.

The release of ME2 and TOR has no bearing on future development of Dragon Age media, and certainly not DA2.

The same kind of losers who constantly tell people this is a forum and disscussion is welcome, but then having those same exact losers who say discussion is welcome, condmn everyone for not agreeing with them about how they think Dragon Age Origins can have nothing bad said about it ever, and that anyone that does say anything negtive is a troll, worthless, and that their comments don't belong on the board.

Sure as long as you go into the topic where someone said the ini could be edited and then never explained explained how even though I said they should have and they still never did.

I've been asking for things from people on this board for a while and never get anything so why should I give anything back when no one gives me anything?

So yeah you want to get, then you need to start giving.

Not unreasonable since you called him a pedophile.

I never called him that because there was more to that reply than you saying I said this and that is all that was said. So instead of butchering my replies and changing around what they say, might want to actually quote what I fully said.

And as for help with the game? What game would that be?

Did you like the game ZeroMystic?

Since no one on this forum likes to stay on topic with anything and constantly turn people's topics into something completely unreleated you are going to have to be specific about Which game would that be you are asking me about if I like because I never know what anyone decides to say at any point.

So again you will have to be clear about what game you are talking about before I answer?

it's ok you all can play the dumb ones if you want.

It's blatantly obvious he either:
1. Doesn't know how to do edit the ini file, and is just trying to get attention
2. Wants people to PM him so he can either advertise something to them, or is a pedophile.

Doesn't
take a rocket scientist to see that's what is going on. people who have
any real help and can really do what they say when they annouce it
publicly, they also post the information publicly
.

That is your exact post copy pasted (new to the web so not so familiar with making links). Its quite clear what you called him.
