Dry spell broken! Talon IX in a PSP I bought right after I stopped playing for a bit. That took 22 PSPs and 26 SPs.
Lol YAY! I probably would have just given up buying packs with that streak and saved my credits for the next DLC lol
I already have a nice bit of savings
I just wanted to get some more unlocks before I have to seriously wind down my playing time...
I think I'm going to start saving credits and stop spending... its just not worth it to just try and get URs. The drop rate is much too low.

Wow you're close! Congrats
Next thing you know they'll introduce a MP DLC with a new UR that will take months to get to X lol

Yeah. The game's kind of reaching a bad place right now... either save up for the imaginary future DLC or spend credits fruitlessly to gamble.

I've had such good luck in getting Rare gear in the Veteran packs bought with the leftover credits after buying my post-Platinum PSP.
I don't want it to end!

I won't be updating the list for a while - I'm getting extremely fed up with getting LvL4 consumables, and so I will be saving my credits for the next multiplayer DLC. My time played this past week has dropped, and I will probably be playing less in the future due to the fact that school and work has started up again.
So far, the statistics show that in 138 PSPs, I've unlocked 14 Ultra Rares and in 90 SPs, I've unlocked 5 URs total. Although this is not a sufficiently high enough sample size, it would seem that the drop rate is higher for PSPs than SPs (10.1% as opposed to 6.1%). However, the fact that the amount of PSPs comprises 60% of the total amount of purchased packs, while 40% of the total are SPs, means that the drop rate of the two would vary from the existing drop rates with additional purchased packs if they were 50/50.
My average credit cost per UR in PSPs is 983,000 credits. My average credit cost per UR in SPs is 1,080,000 credits. The greatest number of PSPs with no UR (losing streak) is 30 PSPs. The greatest number of SPs with no UR is 29 (and counting).
The LvL4 consumable drop rates for both SPs and PSPs (94.5%), the Rare Gear drop rate (9.1%) as well as the overall UR drop rate (5.5%) demonstrate the how broken the store is. As I said over a month ago: " The random store provides nothing but frustration - and frustration for me and for a lot of people leads to giving up."
I think I am reaching that point.

Interesting... :S
26,900,000
14 Ultra-Rares.
The average is now just barely below 2,000,000 between each one.

Yes, it is very depressing. It is the main reason why I've started saving my credits and playing less.UnknownMercenary wrote...

This is something dumb to ask but saving up allot of credit will give you a better chance to get ultra rare?
Im not sure it makes much of a difference. But I haven't really recorded data on that. When I was making my list of unlocks, I bought the packs right away without saving anything.
Short answer: I have no idea.

No problem. My drop rate is actually lower than some peoples - so you may have a chance for a Typhoon yet.Reddemon159 wrote...
Thanks man for your time to compile this information. Now I know I'll never get a Typhoon anytime soon before Halo 4 arrives on my doorstep.
Check randomfoo's spreadsheet for other UR drop rates - the link is at the bottom of the OP.

Since the Argus was released for MP, I thought I'd spend some of the credits I've been saving over the past few weeks. I maxed the Argus in 8 PSPs... its a shame gear doesn't unlock like that. <_<
I'm going to keep saving my credits until the next MP DLC - see Update 13 for my thoughts on that.
Notable Unlocks this update include: Argus I -> X, Typhoon IV, Talon IX.

As the AT-12 Raider shotgun was released for MP, I thought I'd again spend some of the credits I've been saving, like I did when the Argus was released. I maxed the AT-12 Raider in 9 PSPs... more proof on how Rare weapons unlock much faster than Rare Gear (equating the two to the word "Rare" being the problem here).
As with the last update, I'm going to keep saving my credits until the next MP DLC.
Notable Unlocks this update include: AT-12 Raider I -> X, Cerberus Harrier VI.

What I'm not seeing here is that both of the weapons in question here were new weapons that you went on the spending binge to get the day they released (or very close to it I'm guessing) and were not accompanied by any other new stuff, therefore skewing the results.

Yeah, I thought about that, but then I thought: "how do we know that in the place of those rare weapons would be an UR instead?" - its the same with gear.... The truth is, we don't know how the RNG system Bioware developed works, and until we do, we have no way to prove what skews which results. The only thing I can truly be certain of, is the simple fact that rare weapons unlock faster than rare gear, proving that rare does not equal rare (confusing I know). There is no proof that in the place of those rare weapons a UR could or could not have been.

Thanks for updating the thread.
....aaaaand a month later:
UPDATE 16!!!!
I've been too busy playing, but I have a written record of all my unlocks for about a month! I have more than 200 unlocks written down that I'll eventually be adding to the list when I feel like it. I have changed the LvLIV Consumable category to "Other" to include the new characters, mods, weapons, and gear that Bioware has added with the retaliation DLC (and to not skew the results from the other non-UR rare cards).
But for now: STATISTICS!!!
After 37.3 million credits, here are my stats:
- For both SPs and PSPs, my UR drop rate = 6.2%
- For just SPs, my UR drop rate % = 8.5%
- For just PSPs, my UR drop rate % = 5.7% (and 8.8% per PSP)
Notable unlocks this update include: Collector SMG I and II, Saber V, Javelin VII, Particle Rifle IV, V, and VI, Wraith VII and VIII, Paladin IX and X, Black Widow VII, Cerberus Harrier VII, VIII, IX, and X, Talon X, Typhoon V and VI, Indra IX, Scorpion VII and VIII. I have also unlocked all new Rare Weapons, all new Rare Mods, all new Rare characters, and all new Rare Gear.
Sorry for the delay, but I doubt any of you were waiting for an update with bated breath lol

Curiously I'm seeing the same phenomenon since I've been tracking my purchases. I'm at 17/190 for SP and 13/135 for PSPs, or 670,588 credits/UR for SP compared to 1,028,077 credits/UR for PSPs, a rather noticeable difference in efficiency.

So if I'm reading your data correctly, you're actually getting a better UR rate from Specter packs than PSPs. You got 12 UR in 142 SPs for a cost of 710,000 credits per UR. You got 33 UR in 291 PSPs, for an average cost of 873,000 credits per UR.

So far, yes. I have been getting a better cost/UR ratio in SPs than PSPs. But I think the comparison would be more significant if the sample size of SPs was the same as PSPs.

I HAVE MAXED MY MANIFEST WOOOO
Thanks to the ridiculous drop rates of the RPs and APs, I have gotten every last UR upgrade!
Per RP, the drop rate was 24.1% and Per AP, the drop rate was 20.7%. Compare this to the drop rates of SPs and PSPs: 7.7% and 11.8% respectively.
I have written the conclusions of this experiment in the OP, but I have copied it here as well. I think it summarizes my findings well:
***CONCLUSIONS***
54.2 Million credits.... 700 hours.... It should not have taken this long. With the introduction of the Reserves and Arsenal Packs - which have a much higher UR drop rate - I was able to max my manifest. This would have taken a lot longer on PSPs and SPs. Bioware should have introduced these packs a long time ago. 20 UR upgrades came from 81 of the new packs... which were introduced not long ago. This means 100 UR upgrades came from PSPs and SPs. ONE-SIXTH of my URs were completed since the time the new packs were introduced (20/120). So I say this as a Public Service Announcement: DO NOT BUY PSPs or SPs IF YOU WANT UR UPGRADES!!! BUY RPs and APs!!!
