Would you mind setting this up? I will contribute to it gladly if you (or someone else sets it up).Mgamerz wrote...
If you had a google docs spreadsheet, and had some reputable people adding to it (say a team of 10 or so people), you could have more data. More Data always means better statistics... as long as the data is valid and relevant. [and something else but I forgot as I was typing it...]
I will look into setting it up myself

Instead of just being a summary, this will let users log all their purchases in their own sheet. This is how I track my pack purchases when I buy them.
In the stats sheet, the 'Totals' columns will go through each sheet and count things up. If you make a column with your username, you can track your individual stats.

Unfortunately, I haven't been recording the type of LvLIV Consumable that I unlock - I figured I'd just group them together into one single "loser" category lol. I can start though!

Sure, give it a try and see if you like it. It ends up being pretty quick once you get the autocomplete up and running. I also have it automatically drop a timestamp for future analysis, but I'm open to things other people want to try.
Feel free to poke around the script editor, but I'd recommend against making modifications unless you're handy w/ JS.
I'm a bit burnt out on the MP lately so my purchase rate has slowed down quite a bit, but hope this is a good start for anyone that wants to carry on.

These statistics are useless.
1. They depend on what you have already unlocked.
2. They change frequently, based on "external factors" - (this is human interaction from BW to change priorities- just an assumption, not a proof)
That is probably why, from time to time, people report "incredble luck". It is like they hit a "happy hour", when they unlock long waited UR or gear one after the other.
I saw myself this "happy hour" at least twice:
1. Some time ago, I unlocked first 3 levels of Harrier and other URs within several PSPs.
2. A few days before Earth, there was a strike of Gear (uncommon and rare), so I maxed them out one after the other (the pre-Earth ones, not the new ones).
So my advice to everybody, keep looking for "happy hours", and maybe let other people know about your incredible luck.
Sorry to say, but I disagree...
First, I have EVERY rare maxed, all characters and gears (Dunno why the last wont show in my manifest though)
And still.. take a look at my statistics...
Look here at my friends manifest
We were IN THE SAME games, we were in the same lobby.. We're both located in same timezone Europe.. We bought at the same time, for the same amount of money... Within the last week.. He got ALL his UR's maxed... I havent had an UR since the 20th last month.... Can you explain that then? Where was my happy HOURS, that made me sooo unhappy?
Not really having any explanation. I wish I could take a look at BW algorithm and priorities settings to figure out more precisely.
Comparing your friend with your manifest: you look to be behind him by a lot, including the number of level 4 consumables. In this case, maybe this is caused by 1. They depend on the already unlocked items.
Else, you have incredible bad luck, or he is incredibly lucky.
I am very curios, how many credits you/he spent within the last week?
Did he unlock UR's/gears every PSP? Did he spent money or game credits on the pack?

How else would you get statistics?
What I meant is you cannot estimate probability, if the conditions change after each unlock.
For example:
1. you start new, every pack is great, you get Rare weapons/Rare characters/UR at some rate.
2. you max out all characters, the rare character rate drops to 0
3. you max out rare weapons, the rare weapons rate drops to 0.
4. you max out your first UR - maybe the rate for that wepon only is replaced with L4 ammo.
5. you keep maxing out gear/weapons/mods - the rate for those drops, while L4 ammo rate rises.
In summary, your probabilities for future packs are very likely changing with each pack you open.
This assuming everything had an equal chance in the first place (50 SIs for one batarian unlock - I would not call it equal chances).

Ah yes I understand what you're saying. This is why at the beginning of the OP, I put a note saying that I had all rare characters, rare weapons, and rare mods fully maxed prior to the list. I thought it would be fairly obvious that the data would only be relevant to people in the same situation as I am, due to the nature of the RNG.

This is an ongoing record of all of my store unlocks as of August 1, 2012 [my Birthday]. I figured since so many people (including me) were complaining about the Random store, that I'd actually provide some hard data based on my own unlocks.
I realize that so far the sample size is small - please be aware that this is an ongoing experiment and I will be regularly updating the list as I unlock more and more items.
Note: All rare characters, rare weapons, rare mods, and pre-Earth DLC gear fully unlocked prior to this. Data is based solely on my unlocks. Refer to signature for manifest link.

Basically, the main cause for me doing this is that I think the level IV Consumable drop rate is too prevalent. I realize that it should be the most prevalent of the unlocks, but the drop rate is, relative to the other unlocks, too high to allow for a steady stream of progression (which is needed in multiplayer to make playing worthwhile).
I've noticed that the Rare Gear is near the rarity of Ultra Rare Weapons (which makes absolutely no sense whatsoever).
Check out "freemyheart" 's manifest: http://social.biowar...lay=multiplayer --- Last I checked, his N7 rating is 9th highest in the WORLD. He unlocked ALL of his Ultra Rare Weapons MAXED before his uncommon and rare gear. There are many others who have this problem as well. What does this say about the MP Store?
Some people claim that the random store "provides incentive to keep playing". I adamantly disagree. The random store provides nothing but frustration - and frustration for me and for a lot of people leads to giving up. This drop rate problem leads mostly to credit hoarding than fun, speedruns and farming more than actual playing. They fixed the useless character card issue with usable lvl 4 consumables - but why does rare gear not have the same probability as rare characters or rare weapons? Shouldn't rare = rare?
After unlocking every character, every uncommon and rare weapon up to X, and having every mod maxed, I think unlocking gear at a regular rate is reasonable.
Bioware - you need to change the rarity of gear and lvl IV consumables for people with everything but gear and UR's unlocked! However, if the rarity is intentional, reclassify the gear! "Ultra rare" gear makes a lot more sense than "uncommon" or "rare" at this point.
I'm glad to see someone actually give Bioware some concrete proof that the store is broken. It's insane how high the consumable drop rate is. They need to reclassify the items so that the RNG works again.

I'm cool with people feeding their families, but damn, give us a break. Nobody's gonna play/buy anything if this continues. I know, some will stay, all h--tool to water your plants will; they always comeback. And personally, I want Bioware to make things better. This is a great game and great community--minus you three-legged-dogs who happen to want to complain instead of making constructive posts like this one.

You have to learn when to stop buying packs and walk away.
The store is not a store at all. It's a casino/torture device. It's a psycological contruct. The following is how I deal with it.
I get above average drop rate or I walk away. It's that simple. If the store ****s on me, if it fails to reward me, I fail to reward it. I walk away.
I've actually started doing that this weekend. I don't know yet whether it "works" for me or not, but at the very least, it prevents me from completely depleting my credit stash and bumming me out. Got a few Uncommon Gear in a row, and once I get a pack full of glorified consumables, I exit the store.
It turns me into a superstitious gambler.

My strategy too. Except, I don't have time or patience to save large amounts of credits.
So I walk away (at least for that day) the moment I see 2 L4 ammo in a PSP, even if this is the first pack I get in that day.
This gave me about 4 URs and 4 rare gears (comparable with the report of this thread) with a little less that 1 mil, instead of reported 4.5 mils.
Progress is however slow: it took me about a week.
People with much more credits may want to spend more to get URs/gears faster, but with a lower rate of success.
