The ending is really not perfect. When I first played through, I didn't like it solely because there's no closure with Shepard. Then I came onto BSN and had it pointed out to me how thematically and fundamentally broken the ending is. I'm sure a lot of people can put it better than I can, and I'm hungry and want to get something to eat, so I'll leave it to them to explain everything. For now, I'll just bullet point my issues (post EC).
- Refuse means loss: no matter what.
- Synthesis is horrifying.
- Control is pointless.
- Destroy is the best option, but has the Geth+EDI casualty tacked on because the philosophical standpoint is so weak that everyone would choose Destroy before considering the other options without this negative.
- Still no closure on Shepard.
--> When you were told you can't beat the Reapers conventionally without the Crucible and have no (good) reason to think otherwise.
--> The "horror" of synthesis is vastly exaggerated and is predominantly mass-hysteria from its critics.
--> Control is absolutely not pointless. It has plenty of purpose.
--> Synthetic collateral-damage? Big whoop, they can be rebuilt to stock. They're synthetic. Cerberus put Shepard back together.
--> There's only no closure on Destroy Shepard if he survives, but that's because his story is technically not over.

Fully support endings, but this thread is going to be hit by a full frontal assault. The Angry One will arrive, possibly Heather Cline. It's going to be one hell of a ride
Ah yes, The Angry One....
The Angry One is one of my favorite people on BSN... I'll let her do the talking for me.
The Butthurt One is the most worthless individual on this site. She insults and cries foul when she's insulted, her arguments are always "that's your headcanon" but she does it herself, and her knowledge of all things ME lore is absolutely ******-poor.
If she talks for you, thrn you're officially part of the lowest-common-denominator on the BSN.
