It still wasn't perfect - there were boring bits and little problems, but what do you want? This game was fricken' sublime. It's a shame this will probably be considered BioWare's magnum opus in the end, because I thought they were going to get better - but this is still a game at the very highest level of quality

2. Dragon Age: Origins (w/ Awakening)
Simplified a bit much, lots missing from RPG mechanics and a tiny party - but utterly forgivable because the combat was still in the same mould we were expecting, and the story got a person invested. Some of the best gaming time
of my life on this one.

3. NWN+expansions (for the multiplayer)
SP campaigns were total inexplicable ass, but in multiplayer this game still stands shining and tall among other games like a legendary magical elf at an international bus driver's conference.

4. BG 1 (totsc, tutu)
Rough around the edges, not as good or interesting as 2, but still an awesome and enjoyable game

5. KOTOR
A weird one - there is lots of laughable combat stuff, and the rot of streamlining occasionally pops up out of the game like a naughty game developer mole to stick its tongue out at you... but all completely forgivable because it's still so crafted and lovely and - just play it!

Playable because the poorly put together action component of the game becomes more playable than its predecessor, a move towards ME coming out of the closet as an action game with a plot, not an RPG.

10. SWToR (this is only down here because I haven't had the chance to play it, but I needed something to push the next three down another slot)

11. Mass Effect
Boring AND simplistic, having better more carefully crafted music than frickin' gameplay. I think this consolified, moving towards fixed protagonist, copy-and-paste-enriched button masher might have been the death knell of the modern RPG.

12. **** Empire
Probably doesn't deserve to be below ME, apparently lots of people liked it. Oh well, I didn't, so it goes here.

13. DA2
This game is why the rest of the list above isn't in the kind of glowing terms I used to use about BioWare, this cash-in-and-be-damned FUUUUUUU-to-the-fans had me re-evaluating BioWare in rerospect thinking "were they really as great as all that?" Answer, yes they were, they were world-dominatingly epic with spots of human failure here and there - this miserable stinker of a game is just the flushing sound of BioWare's Tiberian Sun setting, if you catch my drift.

I put the box in the attic so I don't have to see it sitting in my collection.

After deciding, changing, changing back, rechanging in my mind the list eventually ended up like this (might change the next time this thread appears again).

1. Baldur's Gate II: Shadows of Amn & Throne of Bhaal - Regretfully I never got to finish the expansion, one of these days maybe...

2. Neverwinter Nights with Shadows of Undrentide & Hordes of the Underdark - This game actually made me get past Irenicus' dungeon and will always have a special place because of it. Even if the OC isn't great I still enjoyed it greatly.

3. Dragon Age: Origins - Not the return to the roots everyone hoped for. Still it is a great game and I've had lots of fun playing it.
