I just tried it yesterday since I got it at I with Operation Overwatch. It's not bad, but a Saber can do what the Crusader does with less weight and more sustained fire.

For it to be interesting, BioWare could add a charge mechanic, making it one of the rare charge weapon that is hitscan (like the Arc Pistol)

@GP : I'd be pretty interested in your analysis of the Disciple, GPR, GPSMG, Striker.

We all know that the DEagle should be buffed further, as for the Javelin, it should partially ignore shield gate.

As for the Kishock, BioWare, please make it hitscan. It'd solve all the latency problems this weapon have. I don't mind the charge mechanic, just make it hitscan so that I can use it offhost.

Other candidates for analysis:

Sucky Black weapons: Eagle, Javelin.

Sucky Gold weapons: Widow, Kishok, Disciple, Geth Pulse Rifle, Geth Plasma SMG, Striker.

I'd love to see an analysis of Widow, Javelin and Geth SMG please :)

We can make excuses for it. It makes no difference, though. You can't polish a turd. The Crusader is garbage.

There are better weapons for classes that don't need powers

so the Crusader remains an amusing toy..at least in SP

Once I lightened James' load out so he could spam carnage that's all it wrote

The crusader fills only 1 niche. If anyone out there remembers the old game show, let's make a deal. The crusader is the donkey behind door #3 when you should have picked door #2 for the new car. Even the RNG reminds me of Monty Hall, though way less witty and loves to screw you over more.

I'd still rather have it over the Eagle

Of course I'd rather have all Valiants for promotionals (I actually use that)

It doesn't do the damage that's reflected. Its a shotgun that has range and accuracy like a sniper rifle. It can't even kill a cannibal at point blank in one shot.

It doesn't "suck pretty badly". It's simply outclassed by other options. The Locust or GPR outright suck. I wouldn't put the Crusader in that group.

*Shrug* Semantics.

You're right about it not being as bad as the Locust or GPR, though.

You should always switch doors.

Very nice write up of the weapons so far. Please feel free to complete a list of all the weapons like this.

Perhaps a more unique way to balance this gun would be to give it considerable force/stagger ability. If it could reliably stagger shielded enemies (dare I say ragdoll unshielded ones?), it would function as something of a hybrid Falcon-Saber. It would hardly be a crowd control powerhouse, but it would give it a niche over the other listed options that might justify the extra kick and weight.

Good read.

Make it a series GP.

That would be pretty cool, but I don't think they can do that without a patch (could be wrong).

You are wrong!

The Crusader has its own entries for enemy hit reactions in the Coalesced. All chances seem to ignore shields right now, but not everything is at 100%.

DATA DUMP:

EDIT: I have no idea how these numbers translate into in-game performance. My suggestion? Increase all of them by 10000000%

I'm sure the crusader has a niche.... with a handful of people who it just clicks with. Some of the weapons just click with some people. i love the saber... but only on a handful of classes... just doesn't feel right the rest of the time.

Note, i am not one of those people who the crusader clicks with. i wanted to love it in single player - i tried it for a few rounds.... but it was just so wimpy and lackluster.

now the argus... there's a gun from SP that... doesn't seem that great at first, but if you click with it, it is amazing.

People tend to forget that the crusader is very accurate, fired from the hip (which the saber is useless at and paladin as well, other than very close range. Crusader is a very good gun for characters that move around a lot, and don't want to sacrifice movement for tighter aim, like the vorcha, and it's fun to use. Blade attachment + barrel is a given.

Well, I guess I can do some SP modding and see what happens. Surely Bioware knows how these things work?

Oh and I'll also add that the crusader is excellent for "blindfiring" (shooting from cover without taking aim first). In situations where you're pinned you can score quick headshots.

I think it needs some recoil reduction + a RoF increase.

Yes, this. I use it only on my Vorcha grenadier Sentinel (no need to worry about power recharge time).

According to another thread the crusader is awesome and I'm a bad player because I find other guns better at killing stuff.

How could anyone think you of all people are a bad player?
