I disagree about the Javelin, it's a great gun. With a ****load of equipment I was able to one shot phantoms. And you don't even need headshots/cloak to kill most units. I have a Javelin X though.

And the Geth Plasma SMG is really good on a Destroyer with the right equipment. Although that's more because of his bonuses than the weapon itself I guess.

I assume you mean one-shotting Phantoms on Gold/Platinum difficulty? If so, I am very interested in the setup you used (class, build, equipment, etc...).

Well I don't have the Jav X but it is pretty high and I've one-shot Phantoms on Gold (never tried it on Platinum) with Human Infiltrator.

Javelin w/EB, piercing mod
HI: 6/6/0/6/6
TC - damage, melee, sniper
Cryo - duration, damage, damage (ends with 25% more damage, 50% to armor)
Training - weapon damage, headshot, weapon damage
Fitness - melee, martial artist, melee synergy (this one is key to getting maximum damage)

Gear: Vulnerability VI
Weapon: Targeting VI III
Ammo: Warp III
Armor: Power Amp III

In order to one shot Phantoms on Gold you have to kill different enemy with heavy melee, hit Phantom with Cryo Blast, Cloak and then headshot her.  Instant death.

The crusader isn't a bad weapon that most make it out to be. It's definitely not the most effective or efficient choice, but it's far from being the worst. If some people got their way it would shoot nuclear war heads and have a charge up ability to create black holes. Sorry that might have went too far, but my point is that it is very capable for use in skilled hands. The locust on the other hand could stand to be overhauled to the way it was in ME2. That was supposed to be the weapon that killed a few presidents, not the weapon that killed the terminally ill hospital patient who has strokes from seeing his own shadow.

Interesting how none of the handful of apologists respond to a single one of the points made by the numbers.

I find this gun to be fun on the soldier, but as the OP said. There are guns that are just better. I personally find the gun good, but pointless.

"Not pointless" is a key part of my definition of "good."

Such is the nature of the crap that our compatriots have filled this forum with.

Its a good thing you haven't left.

I would be the last math analyst here then....

So now, is the Crusader worth it in your opinion, GodlessPaladin ? Or is it still too weak ?

The damage analysis now looks like this:

Crusader:
Damage per bullet:  663.6 (589.9 at level V; 530.9 at level I)
Base Burst DPS with no refire error:  887.8
Base Sustained DPS with active reloading and no refire error:  749.8
Firing Time: 3 seconds

It's increased its lead over the Paladin in sustained DPS than the Paladin; its advantage in both burst DPS and sustained DPS over the Saber have increased, although it still suffers from its relatively shorter magazine.

It's moved a little ways out of its uncomfortable damage hole: for instance, you need only a 41% damage bonus to get a one-shot kill on a Gold Cannibal, and only 84% for Platinum. In other words (although I'm not going to run the analysis) it's likely that time to kill has actually decreased for most reasonable builds.

However, the major structural factors impeding its use--shield gate and the
difficulty of upgrading N7 weapons--haven't changed, and it still weighs more than the Mako.

[Level V damage is calculated as 530.9 + (5 - 1) * (663.6 - 530.9) / (10 - 1). Burst DPS is calculated as 663.6 / (ROF / 60). Sustained DPS is calculated as (663.6 * 4) / (4 * 60/ROF + 0.57). Apologies in advance for any math errors; I didn't sleep last night.]

Tried the Crusader (rank 7, high-cal barrel, spare thermal clip) again last night on my Demolisher and I still don't like it. It isn't the weight or damage which bothers me, but the accuracy. It's supposed to be a pinpoint accurate weapon and yet I have a harder time hitting things with it than the Carnifex, Sabre, or Valiant. I'm not sure what it is. The crosshairs can be dead on the target, but I'll still "miss." To be fair, I was getting some odd lag last night despite hosting (was dropped from the EA servers twice, too) so perhaps that was it.
