My time in the glorious and exciting world of ME3 multiplayer has come to an involuntary end. On Tuesday, July 31 at around 3am, a fire broke out in the laundry room of my apartment, quickly consuming my entire first floor. Luckily, and thankfully, I was able to get my entire family out, and together with my wife, we were able to get the rest of our building to safety.

No on was hurt, and that's the main point, but much later I realized I did sustain an injury of sorts. All of my electronics, aside from the phone I'm tapping this post on, were destroyed. My original SNES, that I bought with a summers' worth of yard work earnings when I was 13? Gone. My entire collection of HD-DVDs and Blu-Rays? The same.

My PS3 and Mass Effect 3? I watched a firefighter toss my entire entertainment stand out of what was once my living room window, charred almost to non-recognition. So, you can do the math there.

I just wanted to say how much I enjoyed this game. I've never really played an online title like this before, and initially I only did it to raise my EMS. The almost rock-paper-scissors feel to the combat, the thrill of learning and adapting to a good team, the challenge of tackling Gold and finally Platinum made me forget singleplayer, EMS, and the ending. I was hooked, in the best way possible.

I'm going to miss that.

We carried renter's insurance, so replacing what we lost isn't an issue. I just know that after however long of a hiatus I'll be taking, the game I loved and lost won't be the game I would return to. A lot of the friends I've made online have been via ME3. They've been slowly and steadily dropping away, and by the time I get back, most of them will be gone. It's crazy to think thats what I'm thinking about during this time, but I truly loved the experience of this game, and I'm going to miss it.

Thanks to all of you in this community. We may have disagreed, maybe we played together and you thought I sucked (or the reverse). I will remember you all, and the time I spent on the sticks, calling out Banshees and telling you to save your medigel because, "I've got you!" with affection and a bit of sadness.

I'm going to miss you guys.

I think we should all take a moment to pray for the SNES that met its unfortunate end :(

At least your family are all ok though!

Indeed. Happy to hear you and your family got out alright. Kids? that's the biggest blessing of all. i'm frankly terrified of things like this (also, we live well away from the airport, but under the flight path - though too far below to hear the planes usually) and thoughts like these weight heavily on my mind. Anyway - that's some terrifying s***. glad everyone is alright.

and i don't know about PS3, but i'm on Xbox and i'll still be around when you get back... a lot of people here will if you do decide to come back.

Best of luck to you and yours sir.

There'll be new cool people to play with on your return, I'm sure. The main thing is it's only material stuff that was damaged, stuff that can be replaced.

Sorry for your loss but everyone is safe and that's what counts the most. Perhaps you will come back to the game again one day.
