Ok, so after a long "discussion" with EA support where they told me basically to go f**k myself and talk to Steam support, I discovered that the DAUpdatersvc service was pointing to the wrong directory. Therefore it would not start, and the updater and the game could not validate the DLC with the online account at Bioware or EA. This was started by migrating my steam folder to a different hard drive, as 16 GB of DA:O in the steam folder is a bit much to swallow on the OS partition.

Support told me (twice) to run the dragonage_code.exe program to install the cd-key to the registry.... conveniently ignoring the fact that I told them I have the Steam version, and therefore no install cd to get the program from. I asked them to send it to me, as I had the Steam version, and they told me to talk to Steam support. Go figure.

Long story short, I manually uninstalled and reinstalled the service so that the services entry would point towards the proper directory and the service would start. No issues resuming from a save game now when I'm logged in. (I could resume the game when not logged in, as it wouldn't check with account services for DLC authorization, and then log in after the game was started, but that's a nuisance)

Hope this clears up some issues for folks, as I've had a HELL of a time... definitely detracts from the game experience.... I've not wanted to play just because it's been broken.... sucks for such a good game...

I had the same issue with Ultimate Edition. I tried everything on that sticky DLC issues thread and none of it worked. http://supportfiles....nostic_beta.exe worked like a champ.

No, but there are directions for installing it AFTER you run the initiall addins.exe for a Steam install if the service does not install properly. See the solutions round-up pinned to the top of the forum.
