if it's wooden how come you cannot smash it or blow it up or set it on fire.
I mean thearetically the mage should be able to freeze a lock and then smash it right.
However this situation reminds me of Fallout 3 how you can have lock picking 100 (Which is max) but yet cannot pick open specific locks

i think smashing them open does make sense but it should destroy items or something.

if lockpicking was a skill not a talent for rogues then rogues would be more useful, still be able to open locks and would give more of a reason to take one.

Hopefully the sequal treats lockpicking as such, I can't really see why any character that spends most of their time exploreing and battleing enemies not wanting to learn how to unlock chests that contain valueables no doubt.
Really what warrior or mage comes accross a locked chest and says to theirself. "Pfff I don't need no stinking treasure! I'll fund my adventureing on hopes and dreams!!"

Oh and don't let me forget about traps......my warrior master trap maker that knows all about the ins and outs of traps is completely incompetent at disarming even his own traps.
There should be abilities to force locks for warriors and spells to open locks for mages and if everyone can learn to make and place traps then everyone should be able to also disarm them.

I'm using it now with my 2H warrior and I love it. It's now one my official 'must-have' mods. It feels a lot like lock bashing in NWN: there is a chance to damage the contents if you choose to bash.Talic12133 wrote...

You mean to say they consider rogues so useless that none would care to have them in party if it wasnt for lockpicking?

that would only force people into taking them if there was essential loot in chests. rogues are good anyway, its jsut annoying lockpicking is a talent and not a skill:(

Personally I love rogues, I hate playing the game as a mage or warrior however as I always tend to control my PC, and I always get the same message from Leliana after I obviously can't open it. "Allow me, I could do that for you."
Then I course have to switch to Leliana to open the lock then back blah... its just a big hassle, like I said eariler in the post why is it only rogues that are interested in treasure and therefore learn lock picking when mages and warriors do just as much dungeon delveing?
