Replaying Mass Effect w/ saved file

I finally got ME2...started playing and realized I definitely want to play ME1 again and then start ME2 right after.

Now I know the pros of playing ME1 with the saved file of a completed game. My character finished ME1 at level 39...so I know that I would start at level 39 from the beginning and gain from there.

However, I really don't care about all that...and I definitely do not care about starting ME2 a couple levels higher.

My main reason for wanting to use my saved file for another ME1 run is for the created character...I don't want to have to "re-create" the appearance.

For storyline purpose...is there any drawbacks to using a saved file for another ME1 run...is it better to just completely start over?


EDIT: Also...do I start out with the gear I had at the time of my saved game?

If you're talking about replaying ME1 with the same character, then yes you keep your gear and skill allocations(Except for some issues with omnitools IIRC). There is no drawback storywise for replaying the same character, only the choices made on the actual imported save apply.

Yep, though if your last run ended at level 39, you probably don't really have top end gear, the best stuff doesn't start dropping that early.
