I'm watching it now, I love it, I had to share.  It's a joy from beginning to end and I felt moved to post about it.

Argyle!

Ellis is my favourite movie idiot, with the teeth and the shrug.  "Hans!?  Bubbie!? I'm your white knight!"

"ho... ho...ho"

His poor feets!

"I was in junior high, dick-head"

It makes me happy.  Screw you, It's A Wonderful LifeDie Hard, knocks you into a cocked hat every time.

How can people not recognize die-hard? :P

Yes, it was a great movie, hardly festive though, lol.

Yes, I admit, my post was not a work of great wit or pith. I confess I was rather caught up in the moment and had sunk a couple of glasses of wine - wise words, fairandbalancedfan. Wise. Words.

However, I do think it is a little unfair to mock my seeming lack of coherence when I had actually put the name of the film in the body of the post.

So thank you, Squiggles1334 and Skellimancer for your understanding. May Santa bring you one of those hamster thingies that you can't get in the shops for love nor money and the sports car of your choice.

We're off to watch Avatar, then I'll prolly have to watch Die Hard when we get back. I cannot resist the macho testosterone laden violent banter that is Die Hard.

I LOVE it when Alan Rickman says "Yippee ki yay, etc" in that accent.

Odd, I seems to associate Die Hard with the festive season also. I think it's the type of film you get on BBC1/ITV here in the UK between christmas and new year at about 9pm in the evening.

Die Hard and Batman Returns are the 2 best Christmas movies.

It's definately a Christmas movie - helped by the fact that it's set at Christmas.  It even has "Christmas in Hollis" by Run DMC when John and Argyle are in the limo. I repeat the luscious Alan Rickman's dry and sneering "Ho.....ho......ho".

And it's brilliant for sitting about with your friends, shouting the lines, pointing and laughing, cheering when Ellis 'buys the farm', and generally promoting the feeling of togetherness and camaradarie that Christmas is supposed to be all about. There is nothing that sets me in the festive mood more, than Hans' slow, flailing tumble down the outside of all 40 floors of the Nakatomi Plaza.

Oh no, my post wasn't intended to be venomous. If it came across like that, I am sorry.

Trading Places is also one of my favourite Christmas films - the moment with Dan Ackroyd eating a hairy smoked salmon out of his Santa suit on the subway is another of life's festive pleasures in my book. I've always wanted a full length poster of him standing in the rain with the suit on too.
