Let's look at this objectively for just a moment. Everyone speaks in absolute terms like, "N7 means nothing." That's just not true.

I'm a gambler... I use 'odds' all the time.

If someone has an N7 3000+ THE ODDS ARE that this person will be of average or above average skill.

If someone has an N7 120... THE ODDS ARE that this person will probably not help the team.

Are there exceptions... of course there are... but exceptions don't make the rule.

Really... N7 rank is a clue, as is the loadout... but even then there are exceptions. For instance: Godless_Paladin is an N7 510... and may have on a silly loadout b/c he is testing something. That doesn't mean that I should give all low N7's with silly loadouts a chance... just because one guy is super-badass.

FWIW: I've seen an N7 20 who was really good (second account, only played Infiltrators.. lame I know). I've also seen N7 9000+ who sat around as a Novaguard and shot things with his pistol... and died constantly. Their are more than enough extreme examples of each side of the argument... but the extremes don't make the rule... the average over time is what makes the odds. Sadly.. the odds are... that people with low N7 rank will be less proficient than people with high N7 rank. It is what it is... deal with it.

If you don't want to be kicked from lobbies b/c of low N7 rank... then F'n promote a few characters, keep your mic on, and always enter lobbies with good loadouts/equipment selected.

N7 number only reflects how many times you have promoted.
You can no-life with a low N7 and have a full, free player manifest.
I personally just promote to mess with builds and stuff.

I have 2 guys in my friends list who are the top N7 rankers in my country. The guy who is first is 5000+. Each time i played with him he always had a lvl 10 or lvl 14 character in the game. So it is obvious he keeps promoting as soon as he hits lvl 20.

Once i asked another friend who knows them why they keep promoting when there is really no incentive to it. He said that the guy on the top(N7 5000+) is obsessed with promoting. He is on top & he wants to stay on top like ever. Well....what can i say. Each to his own i guess.

People that go based off n7 rank are freaking idiots.

The things to check for is gear and weapon ranks. If a person has a high ranked gear and weapons then more then likely they are just as good if not better then high n7 rankers.

I grinded up to n7 rank 1650 so that I would be taken seriously when I enter a lobby. But for the past 2 months I haven't promoted and will not unless they do another promotion operation.

In my case is all the opposite,

I have played with lot of players above +3000 N7, and from those ones, only one was considered a good player.

And i'm not joking, I have been analizing this since long ago, normaly, players above 3-4K N7 are not very good.
Instead of the good amount of players that I know with N7 between 300-1600.

So if we talk about statistics, I can say that normaly, the good ones are 300-1600 N7

N7 does not reflect skill. It reflects how many hours you have wasted in this game.

Just ignore that and move on. As long as you have the weapons etc and know what to do, there will be no shortage of games

So an N7 rank of 20 and an N7 rank of 1000 have identical skill. I will remember that.

I didn't say that.

Well, then I will say it.

An N7 20 and an N71000 can have the same skills.

"can" being the operative word. On average, a higher N7 means more experience with the game. But apparently, that is wrong in saying tha with with time spent comes experience. I'm sure everyone who disagrees with me is naturally awesome at this game from day one. No practice required what so ever. And I'm sure that you all let that N7 rank 20 person stay in your gold lobby every time and kick the 1000+ people.

I'm N7 2000, but that's mainly because I constantly promoted to get the best ending possible.

N7 120 either means they've only just reached it, or they don't promote.

Basing people's skill off of N7 has some credibility to it (they've played the game possibly more), but the best thing to do is look at their equipment, level, and weapons they're using. It doesn't mean you're better than someone else at the game because of your N7 Rank.

Had one guy with 10k+ N7 too.

But, Stardusk, ... don't you have an account with N7 1640 too? At least that's the one I have on my friendlist, but you haven't been online with that one for a looong time now.

Thank you, some credibility is all I'm looking for instead of the constant "you are wrong" crap the Internet is always filled with. Are there crappy high level people? Of course there are. I've heard stories about Shadrach (the guy at 1 globally) is horrible from multiple people. But I have played with both scarab gun who is in the top five and he has no equal.

It's always a double egded sword. N7 alone means nothing aside from they promoted a number of times. That's why people that only looking at N7 are wrong if they use only that as a clue.

I came to estimate people by a whole other aspect. Not N7 rating, weapons or whether they use equipment or not. I check how long they take to ready up:

If someone joins the lobby and immediately readies up, I know he isn't much of a teamplayer guaranteed. Why? Because teamplayers always look up the team composition and choose their setup in order to augment a teams power or to minimize its flaws. Even if they don't change their setup (after all they might not have the best class levelled up for it to be a better choice), I know those guys aren't simply a waste of time because they check the others out.

So far, that method, especially when combined with the standard setup check has never let me down.

I've had both high and low N7s (going from ~80 to well above the 2k mark), and those that immediately readied up were ALWAYS disappointing from a teamplay perspective. Sure, some of them could play fairly well and  made their work, but they never played as a teamplayer.
And those that took their time to ready up, whether they changed their setup or not, always tried to move together with the team.

Actually 2 month ago I was looking for games, and I got into a lobby where there was a guy with N7 20, he was second in score and the difference was only 30K, I added him to Origin, good player, he only played soldier and actually, when I play with him he always uses his Human Soldier, good player he reminded me when I was starting the game.

Because they can change accounts.

I am certain my sister can't hold her ground on bronze (even with OP classes and loadouts), she plays with my account, so I guess I am one of those high n7 players that sucks (mine isn't even that high).

A player with a n7 of 20 never has as much knowledge of the game as a player with a n7 of 1000 or higher, unless is a shared account (meaning you will find people with no experience playing on that account).

Felt like touching on this point. As for judging based on loadout, give the new player in the lobby a couple of minutes to put on equipment;  I don't like using the kick button immediately after seeing someone's set  up as soon as they entered the lobby. I know that I avoid putting on equipment beforehand because I've been dropped into the middle of matches far too often and I sometimes even change my weapons and consummables depending on what other players in the lobby are using.

N7 300 - 1600? Thats called stacking the odds. Why not just say ALL players because you do realize how many players that is right?

Im disabled and can play like 6-10 hours a day and the odds are, lower N7, the outcome not so good. And there are 3 other people on the team. That you know, help out occassionaly. Score means crap without knowing skill level, weapons, class, build, so someone scoring 30k less, means absolutely dick.

I go into the lobby and ready up. No matter who or what is in there unless there is alot of low level classes playing. They might be awesome, but the game freaking drags out.

I can top the scoreboard too using  my piddly low level Drell with no shields. Will I do it all the time? Hell no. Most days I just dont feel like carrying people and I solely play to enjoy the game. So while I wont kick anyone, I will leave a lobby. I want to have fun, not play a tedious game where I 'may' have to solo a wave or two. Thats ust tedious. The odds are in my favor to go with similar class levels, load outs regardless of what the N7 rating is.

SUUUUUUEEEEEE! Welcome! Haven't seen you post on here before. (We've played together a few times)

Yeah... that's a fair point. I would also argue that is the exception and not the rule... b/c most of the time randoms don't change class/gear to synergize well with the rest of the team.

Not everyone is as considerate as you.

Of course I recognize you.;) I lurk these boards far more often than I post but I do pop up here and there. I even made a thread complaining about the sprint feature, to which PC players made light of our console woes....
Guess I am considerate to a point (I thought I was a  harsh critic up until I partied up with you and Devil:?), although I do agree that the likelihood of a player being better tends to be higher when their N7 score is higher. So as far as gambling goes, it is better to gamble on a player with an N7 rank of 500 rather than 100. Funny that I anticipated these type of issues cropping up, which is why I decided to promote for a bit a couple of months back. I had a feeling people would be wary of low N7 ranks the longer this game is out.
