very nice indeed. we could always use more of that in the game. it would certainly fit well in my steampunk server as well
edit: you should submit that to the cc challenge BH!

You really do have a hand for special ideas + you get those things to work! Great!

It's all the Time Team's fault I was watching a program about them excavating an old medieval water powered iron smelter and I thought "Mmm, I wonder..." I think I'm getting a little carried away though, I'm adding a water powered workshop next to it. Any suggestions for machine tools?

A mining hammer pump for dwarfen miners. Just something dwarfen like looking that hammers at a cave/ orewall and one down a mineshaft. That would be freaking cool Borden.

I could do a Mine head sort of thing now you mention it. It will have to wait until I've finished this bit first though.

i have a few ideas to spark some intrest: watermill wheels, sawblade (for tree cutting), quarry lines (ie pullies, cranes, etc), and perhaps some pistons?

Over done the cogs a bit. Having to re-bild them with less verts... *wibble*

The models are very well done! The textures however could use some work. They are far too clean, especially for a workshop and some of them aren't tileable.

Yeah It does look a little to new doesn't it. I'll grottify it when I've finished the models and walkmeshes.

This is very cool. Although I think placeable versions might be more useful, perhaps separated into components, as having it as rural tileset groups is a bit limiting.
(With the exception of the stuff that needs walkmeshing, of course)

I realy like it, cool idea and you have a sense for usefull-not-done-yet features;) But i agree about the textures. I would go for a much dirtier and weathered look for almost anything.

I could make a 3x1 group of the workshop with it's own water wheel (It's currently sharing one). That way it could be used for any trade. Making equipment for it would make a good monthly challenge...
Added later: I could make a city tileset version as well couldn't I.

Looking better and cool that you added in shadows for the building. They are a mess to work with but at times they realy make a difference. Looking forward to see it in action myself:)
