The spider queen in the deep roads. I always try to go slow and not trigger all of the spiders at once. The spider queen is the only real tough one, though she likes to fight from a distance and spit poison. CC is certainly handy.
Ser Cauthrien with her archer backup. The first time as a warrior, I survived due to high defense and many health poultices. It was slow going, but eventually I was able to kill off the archers, then move onto Cauthrien and the other melee fighters. This battle is much easier as a mage. I cast fireball on the group of archers farthest from my group and then used group heal after the stun wore off of my mage from the scattershots. None of my party members died once during my mage playthrough of this battle. Blood wound, fireball and cone of cold are very nice here.
The high dragon. I almost gave up trying to win this battle at first, but eventually changed everyone's tactics to use poultices at anytime that they were at less than 100% health. Now, I don't have much trouble with this fight. I have the tank face the party so only they get hit with the fire attacks and not the rest of the party. If the tank gets grabbed, someone stuns the dragon through the various methods, usually scattershot. Other than that, I just make sure that either Wynne or my mage pc keeps a constant watch on the tank's health.
Flemeth isn't much of a challenge if you are familiar with the high dragon. She also doesn't move around, unlike the high dragon, so fighting her with all ranged fighters is also an option.
I make the Jarvia fight harder on myself because I'll have my party hold so they don't charge through the various traps in the room and focus on the melee enemies that attack the party. With my last playthrough as a mage, I basically defeated Jarvia without the help of Alistair or Sten and used spells like fireball, cone of cold and crushing prison on her and the archers.
