Dammit I didn't even see the Extended Cut for My Story Yet. I am going to play ME2 again soon, for My Story.

I'm still not going to choose the "Refusal."

Well about half the people in this thread are arguing on the basis of taking what the catalyst tells you as absolute fact, which implies a very high level of trust.

That is something I didn´t fully understand when I read about the Leviathan DLC. The Leviathan went rogue (I got the main information’s are from a German page). At the beginning of that thread it is said, that Leviathan was a failed try to build a reaper. The species intended to ascend into a reaper form was not willing to do so, the result was a being that turned against the spacebrat and kills other reapers.
If a species is not willing to be turned into a reaper form, why aren´t there more rogue leviathans out there.
If a reaper consists all minds of millions of organics, who were fighting the reapers, why is that reaper fighting for the spacebrat in the next cycle? If the minds are “brainwashed” or whatever, you cannot say the mind is uploaded and saved.

Please, don't take what's said in the OP for granted because it it only OP's interpretation. And the OP is also a hardcore ITer so yeah

Reapers don't need the entire species (as in billions of minds/bodies) to make a Reaper. Human Reaper needed only a couple million (according to EDI's estimation). The rest is just killed. So just as not every Prothean got killed, not every Leviathan got killed.

Also, Leviathan being an attempt at Reaper is just OP's speculation/interpretation.

Most people interpret it clearly as Leviatah being simply one of the last remaining organic creators of the Catalyst. While Harby is the first Reaper, with millions of other reaped Leviathans.

If this is true, Synthesis is going to take another beating.

Why, because the galaxy wasn't ready then and now they are? As the epilogue clearly proves?

Please.

Constantly killing all advanced life in the galaxy to build giant death cuttlefish to kill people to build giant death cuttlefish is all well and horrible.

But bad spelling? That is something truly monstrous.

Oh yeah?  Well........

SO BE IT!!!!!!!

Though to be fair I'm pretty certain that star brat and his pet abominations cover most of the categories for "Obviously Evil".

Then the point of the topic was completely lost on you. They have no morality.

What, exactly, makes you "ready"?

Because it makes it clear that the catalyst views are completely warp from ours and to choose synthesis we have to trust it.

I find it hilarious that anyone can trust something that they have just met, kinda like how children trust "candymen".

Or god, for that matter.

Gullibity is a mental disability, no doubt about it. :innocent:

This.
Starkid reaches into your mind and takes the form of a dead kid, you could not save. Thus it starts off it's interaction with you, using deceit and manipulation. It proceeds to tell you that it is committing galactic genocide to save you. Why would anyone's instinct be to trust it?

It doesn't matter if they have any morals or not.

They are evil by our standards.

Destroying them is not only justice for the fallen, it's mercy for the billions who have been murdered over the eons to be made into goo to be used as construction material.

The Reapers are abhorrent. They deserve to be destroyed just like their master star brat.

You know, the fact that the Catalyst even thought that the best way to represent himself is to take the form of a child should alone set off a dozen molester alarms.

You partly right and partly wrong.
Yes, what matters is that we have to stop it.
But it does matter that it has no morals. This is key in deciding how to stop it. Calling it evil is point less because the concept is based on intent. It has not evil intent.

Their intent is meaningless.

They are a disease to be purged, a cancerous mass to be cut from the flesh of the galaxy.

They deserve to be cast down, utterly destroyed.

That goes double for their master star brat.

"When fire burns, is it at war, in conflict, or doing what it's made to do? We(the reapers and the catalyst) are no different."

-Catalyst.

Understand this. The catalyst sees it self as a tool doing it's program. It has no will of it's own. It did not dicide on it's own to solve the problem given to him. He maybe given the allown to choose how to do his programing but his views limited to cold hard logic of solving that problem. He would not see his action s as evil. Only a means to an end.
In your example, he would ether be the fire or the machine programed to setyou house on fire. He is just a tool.

Excactly. I 'm not say this is not the case. I saying be empathetic. Just understand the empathy is not a kindness. With this same empathy I destroyed the catalyst as well.

It doesn't matter if it sees itself as a freaking tool.

It's been murdering for millions of years. It is responsible for a hideously high number of atrocities.

It deserves to be destroyed.

There is no sympathy. There is no defending it.

It is an enemy that must be utterly cleansed from this galaxy.

And that's exactly what happens.

No empathy for Reapers.

No sympathy for Reapers.

No mercy for Reapers.

They are monsters to be destroyed nothing more.

Empathy does not mean sympathy and mercy. With empathy I can be far moe ruthless.  It 's just with empathy I can understand what the problem is so it won't happen agein.
