Meh, his argument seems to fall in the same tired anti-nerfer cliches as a lot of other threads do. 
Everything is being nerfed (yes we've had a bit of nerfing spell lately, but this is hyperbole).
BioWare listens exactly to us, again each nerf thread is beset by people arguing against it and typically results in three threads parodying or demonizing anyone who dares propose a nerf or discuss one. Don't blow the communities influence or your own achievements out of proportions.
Which leads to BioWare looks only at the elite (threads/videos/suggestions), it has been said before this isn't their only tool or even a primary tool of balance.
Only buffs are need, again buffing everything will eventually lead to buffing enemies, viscious cycle etc...

The only thing that has any merit is their want for a control group, but there's a lot of problems with logistics (who do you hand these updates out to only them, how do you get them to conect with each other).

I think you are pretty well incorrect in your assessment of how many people load out the acolyte.

I know it's been a while, but I think back on the DA2 boards I think it was pretty clear what I thought of your opinion.

And no, I've never seen a new weapon used less than the acolyte.  The typhoon sees 10 times as much action, even after the nerf, and it's far rarer.

aren't games suppossed to be fun?my only hope while being bum rushed by suicidal enemies is a fair chance.We already tolerate mystery bullets/grenades coming out of nowhere,covenient delays w/using powers when close to death,not to mention the cheap player deaths from 1-2 shots from ANY enemy!Killed by atlas not even aiming at me from 30 yards away,i don't cheat and neither should the game:)I feel better now and still love the game.FUBAR!

You can cut the damage per shot of Piranha in half and it'll still be one of the best shotguns in the game.

After seeing the damage multiplier list I have to ask why all smgs don't have a damage bonus against barriers and shields? Most smgs are pretty useless and this would help quite a bit.

That is a reasonable enough approach. Really the only thing that itches me th wrong way is the quite frankly wretched way of buffing a weapon massively and then nerfing it again. It eludes the grasp of my understanding.


It's called doubt.
Did I do the right thing or not?
Did we make a mistake?
Is the oven on fire?
What really chaps my hide is this weird mutation in the community.
We have bloody factions now engaged in a cruel flame war.

I really don't know what is the right approach to nerfing and buffing.

I just want to have fun.

All this politiccing is hurting my brain.

The nerfs are seen as a bait and switch tactic.

The nerfs are unnecessary in this game. The people that want things nerfed are the players afraid they stuff is over powered because they see really good players use them. They don't think about the fact that the average player can't dominate the game like the players that stumble upon these "over powered" weapons/builds/character powers can. So they cry for nerfs.

Then players trying to get through as many matches as they can as fast as they can copy the set ups of the really good players in an attempt to obtain the in-game currency faster. What they don't realize is that the builds aren't universal. This means not everyone can use it to their play style. I have yet to see a single thing that has been nerfed be usable by every play style.

For example people said the Gethfiltrator was over powered because it killed real fast. What they don't realize is in the hands of an inexperienced Gethfiltrator player (like me) the Gethfiltrator ends up being down for at least 1/5th of the match and sometimes dead for a wave or two.

BioWare does the balance changes around forum posts and the data they have for what gets used most and least. Then they figit with the numbers a bit. Finally they release a balance change for the week. They don't look at all the proper stats for these those. They see a forum post complaining about this, that or the other thing and they then look at how much it's being used then decide how much of a buff/nerf it gets. They don't look at the stats of how many times that set up gets downed/killed and how many failed operations it is in, like they should. Maybe they just don't have access to all those stats or maybe it would just take far too long for them to look into in their opinion, hence they feel they would lose more community members if they did prolonged changes over the quick weekly uneducated ones.

Balance changes are dumb when they are weekly uneducated guesses instead of factual elongated researched balance changes. If they want to start showing they were truly required then they need to start showing charts dealing with the things they balance change each week they change them. The charts will show:

Percentage of community using the set up
Percentage of successful/failed missions with set up
Percentage each individual selectable character is using said set up/weapon
Percentage of times the set up gets killed/downed in game
Percentage of time the set up is in spectator screen

These percentages obviously being within the study time for the balance change.

Small nerf to Piranha is right. I agree.

About shield regeneration change, we can see as small victory for one bullet snipers.
But it favors too others one shot weapons like Claymore. We need more Eric. Please, did you read our topic?

With such a kickback on the shotgun with no power... it would be hot garbage on a summer's day, right next to the accelerated bb gun... keep them.

I am going to stop looking forward for new weaponry and only deal with the gear...

It will still be a good shotgun, but we'll have to add consumables on it, which is not a problem per se. I'm more interested in the other changes, the sneaky ones that make our lives difficult.

Acolyte rocks, its just that most people dont know how the hell to use it, and people who do, well they dont usually play on public games. I enjoy one shoting the barriers of the group of phantoms that just spawned, and 2-3 shoting shields of atlases, also staggering enemies while i set my Biotic explosions off with them.

I wish they buffed some of the other weapons, i have this thing for the avenger, the wraith, the locust, the disciple, the crusader, the... om nom nom

Well done! I love the idea of options. Playing an entire game with only husks would be a blast! I bet it would be harder then you would first think too.

Nerf the Piranha? Fine. Look, it is overpowered - but where is the buff to the Wraith? Or the Crusader?

I'm all for "balancing", but I wouldn't mind a bit of balancing some weapons up a bit more, to make them more useful. I'd actually like to use sniper rifles on Gold, or actually use my Collector's Rifle for once.

I am actually a bit sore about the Typhoon, though. It does seem to be a touch too far.
