I tend to agree with mr. atheosis. I don't mind the weapon being a bit over the top with the dps soldier classes- that's a valuable niche, and they generally need something powerful to stand out at higher difficulties. I just find it a little jarring that it's generally the best weapon for nearly every class, sans maybe drell adept. It's like mtg standard from the caw days, all over again. It's just light enough that it doesn't interfere with cooldowns too badly. I would have preferred a weight increase, personally, as I feel like that would have helped make it more niche for soldiers and infiltrators while encouraging power spammers to try something else. But maybe the damage decrease will be sufficient to make them look for a more efficient weapon while the shooty classes can make by. Hopefully.Atheosis wrote...

If anyone hadn't noticed, it's basically the one + gun right now.
Just want to comment on this line. I think the reason it's the "go to" gun right now is because it works on every class. For a change. You never seen casters whipping out a Krysae but they do get a chance to do some hurting with this one. It's fun to play this way. I like that.
I've been extensively using this on every class since the wails of 'nerf it' started. On several of the weapons based classes it is a touch over the top. Some, way over the top. On casters though...it's just about right. It allows you to finally wade into the thick of things instead of the duck > spam > detonate > fire pistol until CD is cycled routine. Frankly I'd much prefer Bioware to look at tempering it when used on the classes that have inherent accuracy, damage, and RoF perks before a blanket bashing that kills its viability for all classes.
Have to wait until the changes are posted though before we can finally see how it affects them all.
You're actually pointing at one of the issues with the gun. Namely that it is better than every other gun for pretty much every class, including power spammers. You may like it, but the truth is that it is causing massive weapon stagnation which is not good for the game.

Its what they do. Why even have diffent looking guns if all you get in an M-8 Avenger?! It may not look like an avenger, but in essence its damage is the same. Seriously - it gets old. They have nerfed EVERY gun in the game. I just don't get why.
They should just leave stuff alone - I honestly think that MP would be more fun if you had the chance to earn some really uber weaponry..... and keep it. As it is - we earn boss weapons - for about 2 days. Then they nerf it into an M-8. Why even try for new guns if all they are going to do is kill it? I slave to get stuff, suffer a terrible RNG system that only favors millionaires - and then it all gets taken from me.I'm not happy with them. I don't hate them - but I really am fed up with the constant smurfing and nerfing.
RNG sucks, but a lot of the weapons are still viable even in Gold. Hopefully they will take back the odd damage buff that they implemented a few weeks back but I doubt the Piranha will become "useless."

Though to be honest, I wouldn't be against that BioWare rolls back the 1st buff, it was pretty beast already. It shouldn't be nerfed further. Also, still waiting for all the crap guns to be buffed.

Doesn't it say something about the power level of the weapon that people get so up in arms about the possibility of a nerf?
Once again... Pattern recognition. It's called "pessimism" in people that don't have it.
Pattern recognition isn't what you seem to think it is, and it's proven to be a very misleading way of perceiving the world in many cases. It's really not something to hang an argument on. I'll say that much.
By the way, every human being with a functioning brain has some form of pattern recognition.
Don't bother, I mentioned this a while back and he just ignored it.

The Piranha was not overpowered. It was overused, because every other gun in the game is underpowered. There I said it.
And fun to use.

GI needs the nerfing, not the Piranha. How is this not obvious? And before all you TC nerf whiners start, the TC nerf barely affected damage-focused infiltrators. It took off 10% damage bonus from TC, and 15% only for sniper rifles. That's all.
I found the Piranha was fairly balanced by its inaccuracy, but I guess I'll just find a different weapon to use.

Sorry to pick on one line again...
There's isn't much else for the casters, though. Previous shotguns are either underpowered or too heavy to make using a worthwhile risk. Some are just pathetic given their UR status. That leaves you with pistols and perhaps a couple of the SMG's as useable tools (depending on difficulty level). A couple of the AR's have niche uses and can be very effective but you best know what you are doing or suffer the price should you fail.
It shouldn't be the end of the world to have a caster class that can step into a fray along side some sturdier teammates if the need arises.

to Piranha Nerf
Fury becomes another warpThrow adept. There is no way i will want to go up next to an enemy and start shooting rubber bullets. Somebody gotta throw a gun-toting cannibal in front of the nerfbats in the office and see how they react to it using only their slingshots...
This makes normal gameplay, not normal and farming, more efficient....

Oh wait. Used it once. Accuracy was terrible. Went with other weapons.
Still... another nerf on a rare weapon?

Better than last week's nerf on an ultra rare weapon. Last time I used it, it wouldn't even scratch the painjob on a prime. I hear they just plain broke it so the bonuses don't work at all for some people. But let's not fix that. There's nerfin' to be done!

If you're going to "nerf" it, make it heavier or reduce its effective range. Reducing its damage will just make it another mediocre shotgun.
I'm sad now.

Wraith - Talon
Talon seems like the best option, but i personally dont like it.
The wraith needs some attention, but i can do fairly well with it on gold and above, you want to spam powers and melee with it after all.
