well hopefully they put it back to how it was before the buff.....but it's probably going to be nerfed to the ground. my guess is about a 40% damage reduction

If Bioware insist on the Piranha nerf then they clearly do not care what the userbase thinks or wants or considers fun.

This. It's pretty much a universal opinion that we want the Typhoon de-nerfed, but they won't do it.

Newsflash Bioware, and I'll quote Joe Dirt here, "it's not what you like - it's the consumer."

As much respect for you guys as I have, I gotta admit, they're right.  I can understand you wanting to make the game fair, but if you stop taking into consideration what the Mass of your community wants, then pretty soon you'll begin to see the negative Effect it'll have on your player base as a whole.  A lot of people are quitting because of this stuff....I'm not, but still...take notice dudes..

We will not be releasing balance updates today but we hope to have them out as soon as possible.

Here is a preview of some of the changes this week:

  • Enemy shield regeneration mechanics on Platinum are being tweaked to increase the delay before shields/barriers start regenerating. Once they start regenerating, however, they will regenerate at a faster rate and up to a higher maximum. This is to give slow firing weapons more time to prevent the regeneration.
  • Piranha damage reduction.
Also, for those curious about some of the math behind our damage system, we've also compiled a list that shows the hidden damage multipliers for all weapons and powers. The post can be found here.

It's fine that you're balancing out the OP weapons, but I believe what I and everybody else like to see is a good buff to underpowered weapons........ most notably the Incisor and Wraith.

The main problem with the Incisor is not really the damage, but rather it's huge recoil, and the fact that the Raptor, which is in the same rank, is totally superior in bullet damage, ROF, and reload speed. The extra weight and slightly less spare ammo disadvantages are trival. I believe the best buff the Incisor deserve is a reduction of the recoil and increase the burst rate to ME2 level. Even with that buff it won't beat the Raptor in DPS, but at least with its feather weight and proper sniper scope it'll serve as a good alternative.

The Wraith currently is very balanced, which is good, however for a weapon to deserve the UR rank it must have something special. Harrier for its incredible but brief DPS. Saber for its sniper-like damage but without their drawbacks. Black Widow for it's flexibility against both troops and heavy units. For now I can't see what Wraith is actually good at. It just feels like a typical Rare weapon, a slightly better Eviscrator. I think for a start the Wraith needs better damage. The slow ROF is fine since it should still have that Eviscrator feel, but damage wise I believe it could be better. A better accuracy is also welcomed. It's a UR weapon. It should be brilliant.

The Locust is also a very un-popular weapon because it is simply inferior to Tempest, which has better damage, ROF, bullet capacity, and spare ammo. The Locust's near-zero recoil and excellent accuracy no longer matters since just about all players only uses SMG at close range and there're much better alternatives for long range combat. Besides, to be honest, the Tempest doesn't become impotent at long range either. I think what can be done to fix this is to increase the ROF significantly and also provide even better accuracy to justify it as a proper long range SMG.

I think that's about it. Ah yes the Kishock Harpoon Gun. Its a very good weapon actually but no one uses it now. I believe if you get rid of the gravity effect on the weapon it'll become a solid choice for higher difficulty.:)

I see what they're doing. Create something awesome that make players want to spend their credits on, nerf it to hell and then create something else entirely that supercedes the original weapon and start the cycle all over again and then post it under the balance thread: very clever!

Not really, actually kind of tedious. This loot system is becoming a drag but at least "Bioware" has the monopoly on selling "gold", ermmm...I mean "credits".

BW, you better not nerf my favourite shotgun so much that it becomes Falcon 3.0/Krysae 2.0.

About time. Being able to drop a banshee, prime or atlas in 4 seconds on platinum is just...wrong.

I have to say that for those that do not go onto the forums to see what's up, end up just frustrated. I have a lot of friends who play but aren't on here and just comment about how their weapons aren't working right anymore. They end up just frustrated and giving up as they get weaker and the enemies are getting ridiculously stronger.

The Pirahna is in some ways a symbol. A symbol of if you listen to fans, Bioware. I can see how nerfing older weapons will make new shiny DLC weapons look great, meaning more money for you. But at what cost? I'm sure this is also EA's influence too....

^^This.

Unless you regularly visit the the forums, you'll be in for a nasty surprise week after week. I bet the majority of xbox users who play ME3 MP don't come here, and have no idea what's going on.

While being able to tear through brutes, ravagers, and the like in a single clip was fun, it was also very unbalanced. The Piranha nerf might not be one that people are gonna like ('Cause most people enjoy being able to do gold/platinum with less skill than should be required), but it's a necessary one.

Great post.  Many here forget that we are very small minority of the player base and most have no clue that things change weekly.  They turn that game on wanting to have some fun and see that the weapons they used no longer work and it's frustrating to them.

This cycle of poorly playtesting weapons before releasing them, only to nerf them to holy hell when you realize they are OP needs to go.  Playtest your stuff before you release it and this entire mess would be avoided!

We all knew this day was going to come. We will adjust just like we always have when they nerf things. So, lets not get to excited over it until we see just how severe the hammer is coming down on it.
