Do you think that ME3 tried too much to appeal to a broader audience?

More crybaby RPG elitist garbage.....

Please....

And people think that Biowares other games were not rushed and were polished? WOW. Try the obvious beta.....the 360 version of ME1 with cut and paste side quests.

No wonder why I find BSN ignorant.

B..bu...but I don't want those people playing my favorite game series! It belongs to me because.... because I played it first! And I smarter! Wahhhh :'(

Is this some kind of cathartic release for you guys or something, or is this just projection?

No, just making fun of the other posters here.

I think the general setup of the game was geared towards a very wide public and the general gamer while the ending wasn't a typical "Gamey" endign that such games expect, which is likely the controversial part of it. Im not that thrilled either but the EC made it a lot better.

It began as a fast food equivalent and turned into something overly complicated for the majority of paletes that got drawn into it, then all the fast food junkies asks, WHERE DID MY FRIES GO?!? A WTF ARE THOSE SLIMY THINGS ON MY PLATE? Is that seagrass and snails? omg I didn't sign up for this!!

Yes without a doubt, but it started with Mass Effect 2. And then Bioware stepped it up with Mass Effect 3, which is part of the problem with Mass Effect 3. Bioware tried to please everyone which rarely works.

Thinks about development cost of modern games.
Thinks about the the number of copies sold needed to get that kind of money.
Thinks about the number of players of the "I want Planescape Torment" crowd.
No, they didnt.

Well, that's partly why the game wasn't as good as it could have been.

Yes. And doing so gets the quick buck.

Keeping the hardcore audience happy would have kept the franchise strong, repeat business , and a lot more respect.

This question is biased. If I say 'No' it means I feel that they weren't catering to the knuckle dragging audiences of the world.  BUT I think they did.  However if I say 'yes' it suggests the makers 'Tried to hard' when in fact the entire game kept striking me as being either rushed to the extreme or made in a LAZY fashion.  So I don't know how to answer this poll other than this image.

Yes. Otherwise the rachni and a lot of stuff would have been included in a better way. + You'd have less of the annoying combat.

Definitly. I had no problem with the action aspect of it, I thought it was really fun to play. The storyline was too streamlined.

My one dream was for the developers to have spent load more time developing the story and overall narrative of ME3.

The ones whose biggest complaint about ME 3 is the gameplay?  Could you point a couple out to me?  I don't think I've encountered this creature...

Vega was a decent attempt to bring in newcomers to ME3 with the long list of squadmates added from previous additions, but some of those conversations felt too contrived or simply weren't potent enough. As much as I enjoyed ME3, the squadmates added with the game were the weakest of the trilogy. I hold the same answer in regarding EDI, but that's the equivalent of beating a dead horse by going on about that. The marketing was great(for the most part;. That last trailer they popped up was damned badass. Period. Chobot was a bad move, and shouldn't have happened in the first place. Again, dead horse beating.

But yes, I'd personally say ME3 botched up broadening the audience.

While that is part of the problem, it's not the main cause. Not having a central theme, and not enough development time I think are far bigger factors in ME3's fall.

That would be me. I felt like i was playing Gears of War all over again, and if i wanted that i would have played Gears of War.

Instead, i was playing ME3....apparently.

And me. I mean ME3's gameplay is probably great if you want to play a TPS or Gears of Wars, but if you want to play a Mass Effect game(a roleplaying game) it's not so great.

yes

action mode/Not using dialogue choice in a ME game is ridiculous

Best place to start/IGN crossover

MP wave mode from gears/gears weapon that kills the reaper in SP( hammer of dawn)/Vega is a gears lookalike

No hubs as the shooter crowd dont want to explore and do side missions

I just hope the new fans they gained are as dedicated as the core fans they lost like me.

Nope, not at all.  As a game in a series that prided itself on the ability to be playable by people who are new and those who are vets, it did what it set out to do.

Oh, and intentionally taking a marketing line ("best place to start in the series") after a dev explained it is rather silly of you guys.

Single Hub - more than one could be overwhelming
Railroading choices - make it easier for new players
Shepard obsessed with Ventboy - in order to force/establish characteristics so the protagonist for new players where players from previous installments already have an established character.
Choices made throughout the series undone/redone for new players to make like the Rachni.
Space ninjas lol

You forgot to mention the ridiculous "Take Back Earth" trailers.
